More than 80 percent of draft picks have signed

The draft began four weeks ago today.  Since then, more than 80 percent of the players selected over that three-day period have agreed to terms on rookie deals.

It’s an unprecedented display of speed when it comes to signing draft picks.  More than 90 percent of the Saturday picks, rounds four through seven, have signed.  The entire fifth round is under contract.

Even the first round is nearly halfway done, with 15 of 32 picks signed.

The only team without a draft pick under contract is the Rams.  The plan remains to wait until the end of the offseason program and to ensure the players understand what it means to get more money than they’ve ever had before cutting the checks.

By then, there’s a chance that every other draft pick on every other team will be signed.

I kind of love the Rams tough-ish love program.

Don’t you go thinking this statistic is because of NFL draft being late, Goodell! Its because they dont want any distractions because they lost enough preperation time as it is because of the draft being moved back.

I’m a lifelong Rams fan, and I like their practice of demonstrating the pitfalls of big paydays, but how can they expect the rookies to risk injury during OTAs while not even having them under contract?!?
