Bucs agree to terms with Charles Sims

The man who may be eating into the touches of Doug Martin officially is under contract.

The Buccaneers have announced that former West Virginia running back Charles Sims, a third-round pick in the 2013 draft, has agreed to terms.

Coach Lovie Smith recently confirmed that the workload of Martin, a first-round pick in 2012, will be reduced in an effort to keep him healthy.  In addition to Sims, other options on the roster include Bobby Rainey and Mike James.

Sims gained 1,095 yards rushing last year in Morgantown, his only season with the Mountaineers.  He previously spent four years at the University of Houston.  And he can do a mean backflip.

I wonder when Vegas will start taking bets on the last player from the 2014 draft class to sign? Sorry to bring the convo back to Johhny Swanboy, but I’d definitely place money on that!

Now we have our own Darren Sproles. Great hands and speed. I can see us having a lot more success with returns finally on special teams with this guy

Fully stocked @ RB position. Hopefully the O line has much improved, solid tackles but jury still out on the guards. Seems the pieces are being put in place though and this team is on the rise.

Darren Sproles? Sims is 6 feet tall, not 5’6″. But yes, he is a versatile player and a great pickup.

2013 draft? Took him long enough to sign.
