Dolphins sign Jarvis Landry

Add the Dolphins to the list of clubs signing draft picks on Thursday.

The club has reached a deal with second-round selection Jarvis Landry, the team said Thursday. A wide receiver from LSU, the 5-foot-11, 205-pound Landry was the No. 63 overall pick.

In three collegiate seasons, Landry hauled in a total of 137 receptions for 1,809 yards and 15 touchdowns. However, he was timed at 4.77 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine — a pedestrian clocking by pro standards. He could have a complementary role in the Miami passing game in Year One, as wide receivers Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline and tight end Charles Clay look likely to be the top three targets.

  1. Ran 40 at the combine with a pulled hamstring. The number isn’t a fair representation of his speed

  2. Tough guy that can FLAT OUT CATCH THE BALL. I am excited about this guy. We have had fast guys before who couldn’t catch. This guy is a ball player. I am an Alabama fan, so yeah, I’ve seen him play. I just hope he doesn’t have that 2nd pick curse that we have been so plagued with in years past.

  3. The best pick of the dolphins’ draft. It’s amazing how people seem to want to draft nothing but track stars instead of football players. You never know who’s career will be injury plagued or tarnished by being on bad teams, but this kid has the capability to be one of the best receivers in the NFL.

  4. Let the record show he had more Touchdowns, more Catches and more Yards than teammate O’Dell Beckham. If he is slow, I guess I prefer productivity over speed. It was a good Draft for Hickey, not great ,but effective for needs. Clearly Jarvis will be the best pick.

  5. Real 4.5 speed keeps alot of guys on their feet that can’t catch. This kid can and the Fins got him on the cheap at #63.

  6. Watched every LSU game in the past couple years. Dude catches everything. He is a better football player than any other receiver in the draft.

4.77 40 speed, So that’s why he is always making diving catches. Real 4.5 speed keeps him on his feet.’

Kid hasn’t even played a snap in the NFL & the haters are already ripping his speed.

  8. Anyone else remember Yatil Green?? I bet Welker’s 40 didn’t jump off the page either. This kid could be our feature guy in two years!

  9. Gibson or maybe Rishard Matthews starts season as slot receiver…Jarvis Landry finishes it…he may be “slow” but he sure is tough and a leader.

  10. This guy has suction cups for hands. He’ll catch everything thrown his way. Wish my team could’ve have picked him.

  11. Film don’t lie.

Care less what his 40 time was. Watch the film. So many “experts”… LOL. Kid makes plays, he catches the ball, he knows how to get open, he played in the SEC. Just like people getting all enamored about someone in OTA’s before the pads even come on.

    Film don’t lie.

  12. Remember #9 pick Tedd Ginn with his Gazzelle-like speed . . . . and Gazzelle-like hands??

Yeah, I”m okay with giving this guy a shot after that. . . . .
