On Thursday, the NFL announced that the Falcons will be the subject of this year’s edition of Hard Knocks. Four months ago, Falcons coach Mike Smith didn’t exactly close the door on the possibility.
“[Owner] Arthur [Blank] and [G.M.] Thomas [Dimitroff] and I have had a number of discussions on it,” Smith told PFT at the Scouting Combine regarding the possibility of doing Hard Knocks. “I think that we are in agreement in terms of what we would want portrayed and not portrayed and I think that would probably be a big factor would be in Hard Knocks’ court not our court.”
So would the Falcons do Hard Knocks under the right circumstances?
“Again, I would never say never in the NFL,” Smith said.
The Falcons said something far different than “never” to Hard Knocks. All that remains to be seen is whether come September they say, “Never again.”
