A Ravens player charged with a pair of misdemeanor battery counts in March will reportedly avoid trial.

According to ESPN.com and other media outlets, offensive lineman Jah Reid will take part in a diversionary program instead of facing trial for his alleged role in an altercation in Key West, Florida.

Per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, Reid will have the charges dropped if he goes through a year of probation without incident.

The 25-year-old Reid has appeared in 35 regular season games for the Ravens in three NFL seasons, making seven starts in 2012. Reid, who backed up both guard spots a season ago, can also play tackle. His best shot at playing time in 2014 could conceivably be at right tackle, where the club doesn’t have a clear-cut starter. However, he has dealt with a calf injury in the offseason.
