Chris Culliver’s case continued to July 10

When it comes to off-field trouble, the 49ers have had an eventful offseason.  The cleanup could take a bit longer.

As explained recently by, a preliminary hearing in the criminal case against cornerback Chris Culliver was continued from June 12 to July 10.

Culliver faces a felony charge of possession of brass knuckles and misdemeanor charges of hit-and-run causing injury and hit-and-run causing property damage.  Since it’s a first-time offense, he likely won’t face discipline until the case is resolved.

Depending on how quickly, or slowly, the wheels of justice grind, Culliver may not face any league-imposed discipline at all until after the 2014 season.

The 49ers will have to buck the odds, because teams with such extracurricular activities almost always fall short of their season goals.

I don’t understand what the Niners see in this guy. I don’t think hes good enough to warrant putting up with his constant moronic behavior. If some of the corners we drafted turn out solid I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see this guy get cut.

I think Culliver’s case is continued indefinitely. Guy had a single digit Wonderlic score.

Where is Harbaugh and Balke talking this guy up. Getting him some help/ rehab? Oh yeah, He’s not a baller with Aldon Smith talent. Just let him twist in the wind. Great message and character that 49er franchise puts out there.

He wasn’t drunk or high, just really bad judgement after bumping a cyclist. Panicked & ran. Doesn’t need rehab for that cuz you can’t fix stupid. He can play though so let the legal system work out the penalty & then the league. Let’s face it, the NFL is full of guys that are a little rough not choir boys. Every team has a few questionable characters. Niners are no different.

What about the racist comments he made as he fled the crime scene?

It doesn’t matter what you’ve done. As long as you can ball we want you on the Santa Clara 49ers.

His racist comment came as he was describing the events to the police. When talking about hitting the guy on the bicycle he said ” I hadn’t seen anyone drop that fast since the 2013 Redskins”!

This guy needs time in the brig to contemplate his idiocy… -Humanity

Yeah, what about his racist rant at the witness? You never seem to forget to mention it in any Riley Cooper story.

Most of you half wits don’t follow along. You only troll the dumb stuff. If you paid any attention you would know that he never made racist comments. And they aren’t going to release a guy who was ranked top 10 in 2012 according to pff. One of the most underrated players. Of course well see how he plays after a torn acl

Put him on waivers. Not a big deal at all

  14. thebirdofprey2 says: Jun 14, 2014 8:41 PM

Chris Culliver a top 10 CB?? That is flat our laughable especially if anyone watched him in the Super Bowl in 2012 getting burned for 60 yard TD and multiple mistakes. I recommend not blindly throwing up PFF numbers because efficiency ranking doesn’t equal talent. Many times their numbers don’t match up to what some are seeing on the field.

Not many people talk about it but I look at San Fransisco’s secondary is weakest of the NFC West. Reid looks to be a young Pro Bowl safety but having guys like Eric Wright, Chris Cook, Craig Dahl lacing them up is suspect.

We are going to beat down the Shehawks this year!

By the time this goes to trial Culliver will be a free agent and won’t be the 49ers problem anymore . . . unless his legal issues are resolved and his cost is relatively low.

Only clay slap happy Matthews needs brass knuckles!

Not many teams get away with holding and pass interference on 98% of the plays either. Seahawks fans that try to bash everyone crack me up. Pete Carroll’s philosophy is 100% centered around dirty scheming. Deep down inside 49ers fans can tell you, Pats fans can tell you, Jets fans can tell you and anyone that ever watched USC football can tell you that. What a great observation on Eric Reid btw considering I am pretty sure he made the Pro Bowl already. I was hoping the Pats would get him.

A SF player in trouble with the law????

  22. realitycheckbaby says: Jun 15, 2014 6:33 PM

A NE fan lecturing on rule breakers?

    Ironic, no?

What have you guys won since the league stopped your illegal spying?

  23. thebirdofprey2 says: Jun 15, 2014 9:45 PM

NE fans are still the worst, all of them are to too dreamy eyed about Tom Brady to understand anything else about the game of football.

Eric Reid was a Pro Bowl alternate by the way. Where do you get your stats by the way? I am sure there is great research to back up those numbers.
