The charges against Bills defensive lineman Marcell Dareus likely will move far more slowly in court than he was moving in the street. Allegedly.
According to the Associated Press, a hearing in the car-racing case against Dareus has been continued until July 1.
Dareus was due to appear in court Tuesday on charges that include reckless endangerment. He allegedly crashed his 2012 Jaguar into a tree on May 30 while racing teammates Jerry Hughes.
If it were the only offense for Dareus, delayed adjudication would mean delayed discipline. With Dareus facing a separate charge for possession of synthetic marijuana, there’s a chance that action will be taken before the car-racing case ends.
And with Dareus reportedly applying for a pre-trial intervention program on the drug charges, there’s a good chance a suspension will come regardless of the status of the drag-racing case.
