The Texans added some offensive line depth, a player they happen to be familiar with.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans added former Patriots and Dolphins tackle Will Yeatman.

The connections he had on staff were enough to take a chance on a guy who tore his ACL in November.

New Texans director of pro personnel Brian Gaine watched him the previous three years in Miami, and coaches Bill O’Brien and George Godsey were with the Patriots in 2011 when he was in their camp.

The Texans just declared Derek Newton their starting right tackle, but he was shaky enough last year to merit some competition. If nothing else, Yeatman (a former tight end and lacrosse player in college) is athletic enough to provide some competition.
