The Falcons did take a look at Jonathan Vilma, but they must not have liked what they saw.
According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, the Falcons won’t be signing the veteran linebacker after his workout, at least not yet.
If anything happens, training camp seems like a more reasonable time frame, for several reasons.
First, they can keep looking at existing options in the wake of Sean Weatherspoon’s season-ending Achilles injury. And given Vilma’s experience, it’s not like an extra month of work is going to make a difference, especially with the condition of his knees.
Realistically, players of his caliber will be available later, and probably players with healthy knees.
