When Jets’ training camp begins next month, Geno Smith reportedly will take the bulk of the practice snaps with the first-team offense.

According to offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, Smith will get 70-75 percent of the work with the starters, according to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com.

Given that Smith appears the favorite to win the job, it’s no surprise the second-year passer will get the majority of first-team reps as the Jets try to sharpen their offensive play before the regular season. This will leave Michael Vick, Matt Simms and Tajh Boyd to take what they can get when it comes to starting snaps.

And when camp when begins, the focus will turn to whether Smith will leave no doubt as to who will be the Jets’ starting quarterback.
