Brandon Flowers leaves Chargers without a deal

Cornerback Brandon Flowers has generated a fair amount of interest around the league since his release from the Chiefs last week and it seems Flowers wants to explore more of what’s out there before settling on his next team.

Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego reports that Flowers’ visit with the Chargers came to an end without the two sides agreeing on a contract for the 2014 season. Per Gehlken, the “overall sense” is that the visit went well, although there’s no word on the likelihood that Flowers winds up in San Diego.

Flowers is expected to take at least one more visit before signing with anyone. The Lions and Steelers are a couple of the other teams that have been linked with a Flowers pursuit, while the Falcons and Vikings were thought to be in the mix before recent reports pegged them as out of the running for the cornerback’s services.

If the Chargers and Flowers do find their way back to one another, San Diego has an open roster spot to fill after parting ways with safety Brandon Taylor on Thursday.

He’s not old enough to be on the Steelers defense.

The lions need to offer him the world on a platter, otherwise both Cutler and Rodgers are gonna throw on em for 400 yards a game.

As a Steelers fan, I’d kind of like to see Flowers replace Brice McCain on the roster, who I think was the lowest rated cornerback in the league last year according to ProFootballFocus. I’m sure he can get a better deal somewhere else though.

Whoever signs him, get ready for him to blame coaches and teammates whenever he gets burned. And he WILL get burned. ALOT.

He wants to go to a team that’s better than the one he just left. The chargers are out.

Steelers have just under $6.5 million in cap space, leaving just enough to get a deal done. Makes a LOT of sense.

He will make a tour of the NFL if he is looking for what the chiefs were paying him.

Dark horse Ravens still waiting to jump in and snatch him up. They’ve already had talks with him and despite signing Ross yesterday can still look to improve the depth. Although no other AFC North team has any actual wideout depth… Seriously. Cincy has AJG then scrubs. Cleveland HAD Gordon then scrubs. Pitt has Brown then scrubs.

    Flowers to Carolina

    He’s going to the Pats.

Flowers will probably have to take 4 mil per year to get a deal. That could be a steal w the right defense.
