Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson has officially put on a Canadian Football League uniform for the first time.
Johnson, the receiver formerly known as Ochocinco who is attempting to revive his career with the Montreal Alouettes, caught a 13-yard pass on the first play from scrimmage in Friday night’s preseason opener.
That was Johnson’s only catch of the game, as he and Alouettes quarterback Troy Smith (the former Ohio State Heisman Trophy winner and Ravens backup) failed to connect on a couple of other passes.
Before the game, Johnson described his anticipation in typical Chad Johnson fashion.
“It’s similar to the feeling before I lost my virginity. There’s a certain level of excitement . . . anticipation . . . not knowing what’s going to happen or what I’m going to get,” Johnson told the Montreal Gazette.
The game was Johnson’s first since appearing in a preseason game for the Dolphins on August 10, 2012. Johnson was arrested the next day on a domestic violence charge and cut by the Dolphins the day after that.
