Ravens don’t have many health concerns leading into training camp

In recent years, the Ravens have gone into training camp waiting for key players like tight end Dennis Pitta, linebacker Terrell Suggs and guard Marshal Yanda to be healthy enough to join their teammates on the practice field.

This year is a big exception. Running back Bernard Pierce is recovering from a shoulder operation, defensive tackle Terrance Cody and a few other backups are dealing with nagging injuries, but the team is otherwise in good shape on the health front as training camp gets closer. And it should be an even better situation next month as coach John Harbaugh is expecting everyone to be ready to go when camp gets underway on July 24.

“I’d say it looks really good for almost all those guys,” Harbaugh said, via the team’s website.

Without major medical questions to ponder, the biggest uncertainty between now and the start of camp is going to be the possible suspension of running back Ray Rice. The Ravens are expected to find out his fate before camp and that will give them plenty of time to plan for Rice’s expected absence.
