Cornerback Brandon Flowers took a one-year deal with San Diego.

But how much can he make over the life of the contract?

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Flowers can earn as much as $5 million with the Chargers, who have made two big investments in the secondary this offseason. In addition to agreeing with Flowers, the Chargers selected cornerback Jason Verrett in Round One of the 2014 draft.

Field Yates of ESPN.com reports Flowers has a $1.5 million guaranteed salary and received $1.5 million to sign.

The one-year deal allows Flowers to hit free agency next offseason. He will be 29 in February, potentially still young enough to receive a lucrative multiyear deal if he plays well and stays healthy in 2014.
