Agent: Aqib Talib was not arrested in Dallas

The Patriots had concerns about signing cornerback Aqib Talib to a long-term, big money deal due to a history of off-field issues that may have surfaced once he got a bunch of money.  While he’d managed to stay out of trouble for the last couple of years while chasing a big contract, what would happen when he finally got paid by the Broncos?

So far, nothing.  Contrary to the claims made on Twitter by the Dallas Police Department.

The Dallas Police Department contends that Aqib Talib was arrested for public intoxication at a Dallas night club early Sunday.  Per the Dallas Police Department, Aqib Talib was throwing bottles and creating a disturbance, prompting authorities to conclude he was a danger to himself and others.

Per agent Todd France, it wasn’t Aqib.  It was Aqib’s brother, Yaqub.  As of this posting, Aqib is in bed; Yaqub remains in custody.

And the Dallas Police Department continues to claim they’ve arrested Aqib.

UPDATE 12:00 p.m. ET:  The Dallas Police Department has issued an appropriate retraction and correction.

    Revis > Talib

    NE > Denver

    Brady > Manning

Why is the Dallas pd bragging about who they arrest? God I hate cops. Or at least 99% of them anyway.

If I were Aqib Talib, I’d sue for defamation of character. Announcing it as “breaking news” on a Twitter feed should be a violation of privacy.

I’m sure someone will blame it on Johnny.

The police shouldn’t brag for doing their job.

This would be example 9,198,012,145,156 of people having to apologize for something they wrote on Twitter.

Yaqub probably told em he was Aquib hoping that would somehow help him out – whoops.

I wonder if the brother had warrants and used Aquib’s social security number and information when he got arrested. I had a family member do that to me one time.

Twitter is for 14 yr old little girls, not for the police department. Social media is destroying lives.

Remember this is a police department that couldn’t protect a president 50 years ago. Too soon?

Moreover, he wasn’t shot in the ass in Denver, either.
