Dolphins about to sign veteran Daryn Colledge

Faced with an injury to an already remade offensive line, the Dolphins are already tapping into the veteran backup market.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins are close to a deal with former Packers and Cardinals lineman Daryn Colledge.

He was apparently the winner of the four-man cattle call, which included Samson Satele, Steve Vallos and former Texans tackle Ryan Harris.

The 32-year-old Colledge gives them guard depth, which allows them to continue to look at Sam Brenner, Nate Garner or Shelley Smith in the middle.

They were forced to look for help when they found out starting center Mike Pouncey needed hip surgery and could miss regular season games.

Of course, because Philbin is ‘familiar’ with him.

Better offensive line than last year and that’s all that matters. Pouncey won’t miss any games – write it down

Daryn College is one of the 4 best lineman Green Bay has ever had.

Which tells you just about everything you need to know about Green Bay offensive lineman.

Side note; Tony Mandarich was #2.

They must feel good about the back up centers they have on the team. This line will be better than expected. Albert will take up the leader role.

Unfortunately, Pouncey will miss at least 2 games and most likely more. Colledge may not be great, but a depth signing is a wise move and he was the best of the Vets they looked at. Sam Brenner played well last year at Center. With a full Camp, the Dolphins should be fine. I think it is impossible to have an OLine worse than last year and we barely missed the Playoffs and beat every AFC team that made the playoffs. Cautiously Optimistic.
