Johnny Manziel gets his first commercial shoot under his belt

NFL: 2014 NFL Draft Reuters

It’s not quite an inflatable swan, but Johnny Manziel did have a new ride last weekend.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Manziel shot his first local commerical Sunday, for an area Nissan dealership.

The spot was the first from Manziel’s deal with LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s marketing firm LRMR.

Bernie Moreno, owner of Collection Auto Group said he was impressed by Manziel’s attitude while throwing passes to a silver Altima in 90-plus degree heat.

“We’re really excited,” Moreno said. “To have Johnny be able to do his first commercial in Cleveland with us, with our company, he’s a really, really nice guy and he’s doing a great job. He really cares about doing things well, and I think that if that translates it into his other job. I think he brings a credibility. We couldn’t ask for a bigger endorser than that. . . .

“He has a lot of charisma. He’s a naturally nice guy. He cares deeply. Despite some of the fringy things you see out there, I think in his heart he’s a really good person, the kind of person that just wants to win and bring a championship to Cleveland, there’s no question in my mind about that.”

Others have questioned that, and only performing on the field is going to erase the concerns that Manziel brought with him to Cleveland.

Finally something the media can’t accuse him for. Next minute y’all gonna say this is a distraction.

When will the relentless Manziel coverage stop? He shot a commercial good for him but why do we need to hear about it?

Meanwhile, ESPN won’t report on Desean Jackson at the BET Awards throwing up gang signs. Or Ndamukong Suh in “Think Like A Man Too”. This favoritism is sickening.

I’m a die hard Browns fan and I’m sick and tired of hearing about this guy. PLEASE stop. I want to read stories about him winning football games. This is getting out of control. I’m not into all the social media stuff so maybe it’s just me. Geez, make it stop.

    Thank, I missed him.

“He cares deeply. Despite some of the fringy things you see out there,…” This guy is a genius, “fringy”? He has his own language.

He’s right. Johnny cares deeply, but about what?

Notre Dame’s Akili Quinn is jealous of Johnny Manziel’s ability.

“An area Nissan dealership.”? That’s the best he (or his firm) could do?

It’s like you never watched a NFL game on TV before. Every single NFL city has a QB doing commercials for a local car dealership.

I think MaryKay Cabot is trying to get a national media job. Most of the Johnny stories are coming from her

    “…local commercial.”
But that is at the minimum, his second with LRMR..first being the McDonalds one with LeBron where JF does the Heisman pose.

What a shame for his wallet he doesn’t have Montana, Brady or Marino good looks. Imagine if he did… He might not even need to play football at all. Oh wait, he hasn’t yet!

Will you guys ( the Media) please stop with the Manziel coverage. Please let this guy do something in the NFL first. The media is creating the Kardashians in the NFL

  22. stillers213 says: Jun 30, 2014 10:19 AM

Did he have a back-up role in the commercial? That is what he will be this season. I happen to think Hoyer is a good QB and will be the starter all season.

  23. broncosaddict says: Jun 30, 2014 10:34 AM

Has nothing to do with football, but his face looks like Alfred E Neuman and the jacket and body look like Mr Six.
I have yet to see a “normal” picture of this dude so I can only assume he’s just funny looking.

Subway commercials are for 1st round busts.

    Like Jarvis Jones.

An area car dealership? What’s next ice cream stands and bowling alleys? Maybe the dunk tank at the county fair.

They all want to talk about Johnny brining a champioship to Cleveland! He’s gotta get on the damn field first! From everything I’ve read, he can’t even beat out Brian Freaking Hoyer. Good luck with that Cleveland. You might as well warm up to the media attention, because as soon as Hoyer goes down again, and he will, and they throw lil Johnny in the mix and totally destroy any confidence that he could possibly have, the only media attention that Cleveland will get will be when your new owner is thrown jail for fraud. Yes folks, the Factory of Sadness is indeed open and in full swing! Johnny’s a side show, you’ll find out soon enough!

  31. bensstinkyfingers says: Jun 30, 2014 4:24 PM

All the Johnny coverage has to make Hoyer’s skin crawl. Now with Manziel doing local car dealership commercials, and Hoyer not getting any love being hometown kid and all. But can’t be any worse than having Brady Quinn doing cheesy subway commercials.

  32. kando53 says: Jun 30, 2014 5:17 PM

Didn’t know anyone in Cleveland had rights to do ‘Trunk Monkey’ commercials.

  33. lemmetalkwouldya says: Jun 30, 2014 11:00 PM

So has he even cracked open a playbook yet???
