Marcell Dareus racing trial set for September

Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus will get his day in court, right before the start of the regular season.

According to Ed Drantch of WIVB in Buffalo, Dareus will have a non-jury trial on street racing charges on Sept. 9.

That’s the Tuesday before the start of the regular season.

Drantch also reports that a plea deal was offered, but not immediately accepted.

Dareus has also applied for pre-trial intervention on drug possession charges as well.

The combined weight of the charges could result in a suspension, even without a conviction.

  1. You know what is sad… Bengals rookie Sam Montgomery spent more time in jail for speeding than marcell dareus did for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, drag racing, reckless endangerment, and reckless operation.

  2. The drug charge is BS considering the fact that it was synthetic… Besides, Marijuana should be and soon will be legal in the entire continental U.S.

As for the racing, It was stupid and dangerous. He should be punished for it. There are plenty of raceway’s that for a small fee and signature will allow you to take your car out on the track and test it’s limits. The highway and streets are for traveling, not racing, It’s too damn dangerous…
Unfortunately for the team, Goodell will suspend Dareus for two to four games…
Luckily, the team has good depth and will still rock the house on gameday.
