Jets quarterback Geno Smith sees no reason not to feel confident heading into the 2014 season.
Although the Jets are coming off an 8-8 season in Smith’s rookie year, Smith said he likes his team’s chances of winning a championship this season.
“I feel good about our team making a Super Bowl run,” Smith said, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. “You know, why not us?”
Many people would look at the Jets’ roster and say there are actually plenty of reasons why they’re not Super Bowl contenders. And one of those reasons is that Smith hasn’t proven himself as an NFL quarterback, having completed just 55.8 percent of his passes last season, with 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions.
But the Jets rarely lack for confidence at this time of year. Jets coach Rex Ryan has made his share of offseason Super Bowl predictions, and Ryan’s confidence may be rubbing off on Smith.
