Police investigating after man claims Pouncey twins assaulted him

Police are investigating after a man claimed Dolphins center Mike Pouncey and Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey assaulted him at a Miami Beach nightclub, but no arrests have been made and police have not confirmed that the Pounceys are the subjects of the investigation.

“There was an incident that occurred at Cameo last night at 4:20 a.m., where an alleged assault took place,” Miami Beach Police Sgt. Bobby Hernandez told New Times. “We have not confirmed it’s the Pouncey brothers that are the subjects, but we are going to have detectives contacting the victims to investigate further.”

A man named Ricky Vasquez posted several messages on Twitter and Instagram saying he was assaulted at Cameo, the club where the Pouncey twins also got attention at this time last year for wearing “Free Hernandez” hats after their college teammate Aaron Hernandez was charged with murder. The Pounceys, whose birthday is July 24, have an annual birthday party at Cameo.

Vasquez claims he was punched and has a chipped tooth and a cut that required 10 stitches. He also claims that he was called an anti-gay slur.

  1. I’d assume this is highly likely after that whole “free Hernandez” thing. Probably not the brightest, most considerate, or rational brothers in the world.

  2. Whether or not these charges are legit, these 2 need to take some courses on good decision making or something. They just are not coming across as good people

  3. The Dolphins O-line and the entire Steelers organization are just loaded with character guys.

  4. This even further confirms my dislike for the ridiculous extension they recently gave Maurkice. It had already felt like the Woodley contract all over again, but it may be worse given his proven poor judgment.

  5. Unemployed richie incognito wishes he had enough disposable income to hang out in nightclubs to assault and harass strangers.

  6. pathetic, some people will do anything to get rich quick. he knew of the pouncy situation and now is trying to bank on it just like the girl did with kap and so many other people trying to take advantage of pro athletes.

  7. Yeah it does seem to be a sad trend that is going around that too many people think it’s okay to inappropriately put their hands on another. We as a society need to crack down on that stuff and try to put an end to it, no more or be prepared to pay the penalty. Now we just need a better rulebook and oversight system.

    Now that’s funny right there….

  9. Not defending the Pouncies, but how did this start?

Three sides to every story: yours, mine, and the truth

I’ll wait for the police report to come out before I pass judgement on either party

  10. They were ok until they utter an “anti gay slur”. There will be no tolerance for that.

  11. I remember back when Allen Iverson caught some heat for allegedly being involved in a bowling-alley brawl, a whole slew of people dropped his name to police…which makes sense only for the fact that he was the only person in the entire building whom everyone knew by name. Whether he participated or not, everyone questioned by police could at least say that they knew he was there for sure.

I have no clue what transpired in the Miami beach nightclub, and in all likelihood the Pounceys were probably involved to some degree, but if this guy were punched or assaulted by someone who was with the Pouncey bros than of course the guy is going to accuse the Pounceys instead…it’s a potential payday.

  12. Good for phins and steelers. Id much rather have the guys on my team that whoop tail instead of getn their tail whooped. The guy probably didnt know when to shut up.

  13. Hey, don’t throw 4:20 into this! It happens to be a very relaxing time of day for me 😉

  14. .
The Pouncey brothers average 6′ 4″ and 300 lbs. Anybody got the tale of the tape on Vasquez?

Maybe it was just one Pouncey, but he was so bad ass that it looked like two to the guy losing the fight.

I do know they’ve looked for the “Banker Triplets” after I mixed it up with a crew of fools, and I have no siblings. Just looks that way when asses are being kicked.

  16. Guys says he got attacked by four bouncers and the Pouncey twins.

It’s not commonly the case an innocent bystander gets “jumped by four bouncers,” let alone a pair of NFL players. That amount of people seems sufficient to move just about anyone from Point A to Point B. What exactly happened to necessitate that level of involvement is the better question.

  17. I would automatically subject Urban Meyer guys to mandated psych evals.. just saying

hopefully, these scumbags can be linked to Hernandez and put away…. hate it when scum gets rich..need to take out the trash

  18. Wouldn’t it be a “gay slur” vs. an “anti-gay slur” …or were they slurring him for being anti-gay?

  19. “Vasquez claims he was punched and has a chipped tooth and a cut that required 10 stitches. He also claims that he was called an anti-gay slur.”

But he failed to report is that he probably provoked the twins and brought it upon himself. Pretty hard to believe those two guys just started pounding on a single guy for no reason.

Another Florida “stand your ground” tough guy cries after getting beat up.

  20. The story above says police are going to contact (alleged) “victims.” Victims, as in plural, as in more than one.

  21. They need to find Jesus.

Or grow up and be responsible, respectful men.

I think the second choice is the more believable one.

Haha! “A Double Beat-Down is waiting for you!” That song is haunting. Probably haven’t heard it for 20 years and yet I can recall it like it was yesterday.

  23. I’m shocked. To think, guys that played at Florida for Urban Meyer getting into trouble. Maybe they skipped the bible study sessions Urb had with Aaron Hernandez…

  24. garbage like the Pounceys reflect poorly on their team, the league and most of the players

somehow guys like this need to blackballed from the league.. but you always have weak orgs that take on vermin like these brothers and Hernandez

Pats, Cowboys, Steelers, Dolphins, Bengals come to mind as low class orgs….

  25. Anyone that has just had surgery is usually not looking to get into a bar brawl. I’m guessing there are two sides to this story with somebody asking for a fat lip and got one.

  26. So many comments are mostly jerk and not knee it’s funny. Ladies let’s wait for some arrests, indictments, and pleas before we judge any one. Sounds like a testosterone exchange in the early morning…yawn.

  27. Hey politicallyincorrect, can you tell us which teams over the years haven’t had someone that got in trouble or even merely accused of getting in trouble. Unfortunately it happens to all teams. Pro football players are a different breed of cat, and in that mix you’re going to get some reprobates. Ironically, they are often the best players.

The fact you didn’t mention Elevator Ray Rice and his recent embarrassing actions lead me to believe you are Raven fan. Not listing them
was also a give away, but how do you make such hateful comparisons and leave out the embarrassing ravens who starting with Ray Lewis and now Rice have had more than their share of bad apples? Click-bait?

  29. there are way to many people on this blog who can’t wait for the police report before there mouth is on full alert. There is no cure for stupid. Bill

  30. to nfnd. this is why you are a hypocrite. I absolutely agree with you that we need to wait for more facts to make judgement. however you know that if this incident involved players on a team other then the Steelers, you would have already demanded suspensions, lifetime bans, and jail. If you doubt me, just look at any other of your posts

  31. Gee, a party they’re known for having every year.

And a “gay slur” thrown in for good measure.

Athletes are gonna have to start realizing that they are always going to be targets for extortion and that they can’t just go out in public like we anonymous poor.

Sounds to me like another shot at a big settlement.

  32. to nfnd. this is why you are a hypocrite. I didn’t realize you had the power to read minds? Wrong again as I wait to see the source or the plea, indictment, video , verdict ……like real evidence. Sorry to disappoint you, but hypocrites support an abuser of women as long as the woman is not related to them.

  33. if this were a raven you would already have made your mind up that he was guilty. since its a Steeler lets take a wait and see approach. forget Ray Rice. what about the alleged incident where Ravens players were supposedly kicked out of a club for harassing a woman and public drunkenness. why don’t u go look up your comments on that

  34. this were a raven you would already have made your mind up that he was guilty. since its a Steeler lets take a wait and see approach. forget Ray Rice. what about the alleged incident where Ravens players were supposedly kicked out of a club for harassing a woman and public drunkenness. why don’t u go look up your comments on that

Now how convenient you want to forget Ray Rice…..I guess that just wipes it away. It won’t go away as you and the ravens support a wife beater and trying to deflect attention on yet to be determined infraction by a Steeler. Please your support of Lewis is now being surpassed by Rice….pathetic team and fans…oh wait it’s a business which means I can sell my values for a buck….sad you are the country’s future.

  35. lol. once again, I’ve never supported Ray Rice in this situation. whatever he gets he gets. its fine with me. but how about pouncey and his”free Hernandez” hats. or since he’s a Steeler we overlook it I suppose. and yes…it is a business. in your job, if you were locked up on murder charges or accused of rape multiple times you would be fired. ravens Seahawks bears Steelers. it’s all the same. they do what’s best for the team’s. but you fail to see that because in your mind the Steelers are the paragon of virtue. and if pouncey did do this, and I really hope he didn’t, don’t compare it to other issues. judge him

  36. Hey politicallyincorrect. What about that upstanding citizen Fred Davis, who after an assualt and battery charges was still on the roster of that weak organization of yours, the loser-skins. You didn’t have anything to say then about him or the the dysfunctional skins keeping him on the roster. He would probably still be on the roster had he not been indefinitely suspended the day before he was busted for DUI. Hypocrite hater.

  37. Every year it gets more nutty….players on break between OTAs and training camp find trouble. It’s like make a bet to see who can find the stupidest ways to throw away a football career. No, we don’t know what happened here yet, but nothing good happens at 4am. Why even be out?
