Supplemental snub Darius Lipford to work out for 49ers

His name wasn’t called during the NFL Supplemental Draft, but North Carolina linebacker Darius Lipford may still find work in the NFL.

According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, Lipford will work out for the 49ers today.

Lipford was a talented linebacker who fits the 49ers draft profile, as he’s already had two ACL injuries, the second of which cost him the 2012 season.

But the 6-foot-2, 255-pounder came back and played as a pass-rusher last year, with six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

  1. I’ve watched this guy play in high school (Hibriten) and at UNC and he is a very gifted athlete. Like to see him get an opportunity with a team. Lipford’s best fit in the NFL may be as an OLB in a 3-4 defense.

  2. People may not like to hear it but I don’t think the same two teams will be atop the NFC West this season and the Hawks will still be there (don’t like it but it is what it is). It’s no longer a “two-team” division and I really believe the Niners will end up in last place.

  3. Niners have been great at finding diamonds in the rough. Hopefully Lipford plays his heart out to at least make the practice squad or get picked up by another team.

Oh and of the first five comments 2 are from interdivision haters, lol your jealousy reeks. The Rams will continue to … well, be the Rams and Seattle will nose dive as all Super Bowl winners do. The Niners will regain our rightful position as NFC West champions.

    GO NINERS!!!!!

49ers had a longer offseason than the Seahawks did… haha

Those 2 weeks are really gonna help

  5. He maybe a good player, but always getting hurt plays and red shirt them will only work for so long. Maybe it works (again) in this case, but some of these red shirt players better pan and start playing well and soon.
