The Lions have signed tailback George Winn, who had stints with several NFL teams in 2013. The club announced the move on Twitter on Wednesday.

A second-year pro, the 23-year-old Winn played collegiately at Cincinnati. He originally signed with Houston as an undrafted free agent in May 2013. After the Texans parted ways with Winn, he signed with the Patriots in June and played for the club through the end of August. He would later have practice squad stints with the Raiders (October 2013), Steelers (October 2013-November 2013) and Cowboys (December 2013).

The 5-11, 210-pound Winn rushed for 1,334 yards and 13 touchdowns in his senior season with the Bearcats. He appeared in three preseason games for New England, rushing for 52 yards and a TD on 15 carries.

In a corresponding roster move, the Lions waived rookie offensive guard D.J. Morrell, an undrafted free agent from Old Dominion.
