Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green is on the record as a believer in quarterback Andy Dalton.
His most recent show of support for Dalton was telling NFL Network that he only wants to catch passes from the player who joined him as a member of the 2011 Bengals draft class. At his youth football camp on Thursday, Green said he felt that the Bengals see things the same way and that it wouldn’t be long before they make sure that Dalton remains the quarterback in Cincinnati well beyond 2014.
“We came in together. That’s my guy. He helped me where I am. I helped him and we took the Bengals to a different level,” Green said, via the team’s website. “The Bengals were losing a lot before we came. I feel like we turned it around. I know they know he’s the guy ... I feel like they’re going to get something done before the season starts.”
As for his own extension, Green isn’t expecting anything to happen immediately and that suits him just fine. The Bengals exercised the fifth-year option on his rookie deal and Green said he’s happy to take his $10 million this year and wait to work out something longer down the road.
