Dolphins sign Billy Turner, two unsigned draft picks remain

And then there were two.

Billy Turner, the Dolphins’ third-round draft pick, signed his rookie contract today. That means there are only two unsigned picks from this year’s NFL draft, both first-round picks: Browns cornerback Justin Gilbert (eighth overall) and Titans offensive tackle Taylor Lewan (11th).

Gilbert has said he doesn’t know if he’ll sign before Cleveland’s training camp opens. Lewan and the Titans are believed to be at odds over roster bonuses.

Turner, whose agent Michael Hoffman confirmed the signing on Twitter, was a four-year starter at North Dakota State and a two-time Football Championship Subdivision All-American. Although he was a left tackle at North Dakota State, he may move to guard for the Dolphins.

Glad we didn’t get Gilbert now.

I watched his youtube special, but Im not sure if I am sold on this guy. Seemed to be disappointed by being drafted by the fins, which you think he would be since he has a chance at being a starter and was drafted in the 3rd round. idk not a huge fan

To offset or not to offset that is the question.

Gilbert’s probably just demanding more than Manziel got.

There is a problem with a team that has gone this long without signing all their draft picks. The team is either inept at working out details (there is very little to negotiate with drafted players), or the players aren’t too hot on being Dolphins. Either way, that looks like trouble.

I hope he pans out. The Dolphins are very deserving of a positive story. This guy is a very hard working, strong character and violent blocker. He chose to play for NDSU for personal reasons. He was offered and could have easily dominated at any BCS school. The small school thing is the only hit and he was still ranked as a Top 10 Guard in the Draft switching from Tackle of course.

I live in Fargo and saw Billy play his collegiate career. He is an absolute stud. Those of you who say he’s not excited about playing in Miami would be wrong. He’s a calm and collected individual who doesn’t say much. However, come game time, he gives 100% and isn’t afraid of anyone. You’ll all appreciate Billy Turner. Ohh and there is that other NDSU guy on your team by the name of Brock Jensen. Don’t sleep on him. He’s a winner.

Mr. Gilbert, you don’t want to lose favor with Browns fans. A fact any NFL fan can attest to. Do the right thing.
