Lions waive Naaman Roosevelt, claim Reese Wiggins

The Lions made a change at wide receiver Friday, waiving veteran Naaman Roosevelt and claiming rookie Reese Wiggins on waivers from New England.

The roster moves were disclosed in the NFL’s Friday transactions.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Wiggins signed with New England on May 27 after going undrafted. Wiggins, 23, caught 80 passes for 1,012 yards and eight touchdowns at East Carolina (2010-2013).

The 26-year-old Roosevelt caught 25 passes for 396 yards and one TD in two seasons with the Bills (2010-2011). The Lions signed him in April.

Detroit has 12 wide receivers on the roster. Lions rookies report to training camp on July 22. Veterans are to report July 27.

With that shabby WR core that includes Calvin “over the hill” Johnson and Golden “hands of stone” Tate. Wouldn’t be shocked to see this kid as their #1 week 1.

It’s like since we have Calvin, all are other receivers have to be under 5’11. Golden Tate is a beast and probably the best signing made by a team in terms of completing things. When it comes to these guys just get the undrafted ones who are 6’7.
