Rams linebacker arrested in South Beach

Soon, all NFL training camps will be open.  For many of the league’s coaches, that can’t come soon enough.

Players left to their own devices sometimes end up in trouble.  It happened early Sunday to Rams linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar during a visit to South Beach.

According to CBS Miami, Dunbar was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct following an altercation outside the Dream Nightclub.  Also arrested was Donte Green, a free agent who was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the 2008 NBA draft.

Dunbar provides the latest off-field complication for a Rams team that has had its share of arrests and suspensions in recent years.  Second-year receiver Stedman Bailey will miss the first four games of the 2014 regular season after testing positive for PEDs.

Dunbar missed the first four games of the 2013 season due to a violation of the PED policy.  A 16-game starter in 2012 and 10-game starter a year ago, Dunbar is due to earn a base salary of $751,157 in 2014.

I feel for Dunbar’s victim. Fighting a wound up pro football player hopped up on steroids…I’ll take my chances riding on the Titanic

One player suspended for PEDs and the other arrested….looks like the Rams really are ready to compete with the Seahawks and 49ers. 😛

Everyone flocks to Florida to get arrested. This ain’t your grandmothers vacation land anymore.

Just another idiot athlete. They are a dime a dozen these days. He will get a slap on the wrist and be back in the bars.

You wouldn’t see a JET doing this. Every JETS player is working hard ready to beat the Patriots 52-0, the Dolphins 62-0 and the Bills 102-0.

Notice the Seahawks have kept their noses clean this offseason so far? Unlike the 49ers and Rams.

And ESPN just proclaimed the Rams on the rise thanks to their defense, make that their legal defense, LOL.

Because it is the Rams, no one notices or cares. 31st ranked attendance, Fisher and Bradford has all the makings for another boring season for boring fans in a boring city.

  17. indianarams says: Jul 20, 2014 2:35 PM

He just opened the door to Ray-Ray Armstrong becoming his replacement. Fisher released him last year due to the PEDs incident and later signed him for less money. His days are numbered with the Rams.

when will these players learn that they can’t do normal things out in public. money grabbers will seek them out and instigate problems for lawsuits. it’s wrong and needs to be stopped I have no idea how. but it’s the way the world is right now

  30. bayouranch says: Jul 20, 2014 3:13 PM

Really liked Dunbar when he played for my Saints. everyone gets into a fight no and then at that age.

  31. castle197 says: Jul 20, 2014 3:15 PM

Dunbar kept a very low profile while with the Saints. if there was a place to get his rocks off it would have been in the French Quarter.

  32. uglydingo says: Jul 20, 2014 3:16 PM

Jo-Lonn is now in the big time. Dream Nightclub at South Beach is among the top nightclubs in the US. It is described as exclusive yet unpretentious, sexy yet sinful, classic yet very contemporary. Dream Nightclub embodies the true sophistication of premium nightlife, where the celebrities come to party.

  33. bassplucker says: Jul 20, 2014 3:21 PM

Just by the headline I was sure it was Alec Ogletree. For the Rams sake I’m glad it’s not.

  35. bucsorbust says: Jul 20, 2014 3:36 PM

Yup, just as I posted last week…that we’d read about more nonsense of this sort this weekend. And we’re not done yet. One or two more will leak out before tomorrow morning.

I’ve been in Coral Gables for the past 5 weeks and I have heard ONE conversation in English.

Why come to South Beach at all?

Nothing good happens in 3rd world countries.

  37. bucsorbust says: Jul 20, 2014 3:39 PM

I don’t know what they teach at the Rookie symposium, but short of managing finances, the #1 speaker up ought to ship in the cases of beer, and have everyone open one up, and then he should say: “New money and alcohol don’t mix. This is the last alcohol you will drink until Week #1 in the regular season. Thank me later.” At least 5 NFL careers down the tubes in the last month. Very sad.

  38. kibblesnvick says: Jul 20, 2014 3:41 PM

Donte Greene was picked 28th overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2008 NBA Draft and then promptly traded to the Houston Rockets. The Rockets then traded him to the Kings two months later.

What the hell is he doing.?

  40. senoreno says: Jul 20, 2014 4:03 PM

Will the Rams supplant the Seahawks as the new ped team? All they need is three more to tie the pedhawks for most PED suspensions since 2010..

    Dunbar. More like Dumbar.

    Am I right???

  43. brownsmakemecrazy says: Jul 20, 2014 4:38 PM

Only professional sport where you read about players constantly getting into trouble. You never hear of constant arrests of baseball, basketball, and hockey players.

maybe alot of football players are just a holes.

  44. brownsmakemecrazy says: Jul 20, 2014 4:46 PM

I think the arrest meter should track how many days of the year that an NFL player is arrested. Bet it’s around 100

  45. hummer53 says: Jul 20, 2014 5:51 PM

The MPD will quietly drop any charges in a few weeks. NFL get out of jail card.

  46. mackcarrington says: Jul 20, 2014 5:56 PM

Football players getting arrested is now the rule and not the exception.

  47. fanofthegame1 says: Jul 20, 2014 6:12 PM

Interesting. So, Dunbar is from Syracuse and Green went Syracuse. Nice connection.

  48. fanofthegame1 says: Jul 20, 2014 6:15 PM

Also, missing from story is they got into a fight. I guess what happens in Syracuse doesn’t stay in Syracuse.

  49. kingpel says: Jul 20, 2014 6:20 PM

Dunbar is single handedly showing the young players on the Rams what NOT to do.

  52. FinFan68 says: Jul 20, 2014 8:13 PM

Why is it so hard for some of these idiots? Are they incapable of going to a club and not getting into some sort of altercation? It seems that getting into a fight is the reason some of these guys go to the clubs. Here is a clue, guys. Not all people are out to “disrespect” you and none of the ones that do are worthy of fighting. Act civilized.

  56. rascalmanny says: Jul 20, 2014 11:15 PM

This has nothing to do with Fisher, but with grown men being irresponsible. It’s their own damn fault. I have NO sympathy. NONE! Don’t give me some sorry ass story as an excuse either.

  57. oreo51 says: Jul 20, 2014 11:49 PM
