Marquise Goodwin says his absence wasn’t injury related

With training camps opening across the league in the coming days, the headlines will fill up with all kinds of injuries.

But one of the first ones in Bills camp was not what it appeared.

Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin left the Bills’ first practice early, but said later it was not injury related.

“No I was not hurt the first day of camp,” Goodwin wrote on Twitter. “Sickle Cell and athsma beat me today!

The third-round pick showed flashes of big-play ability last year, averaging 16.6 yards per reception and scoring three touchdowns. But he also missed four games with minor injuries.

If he can stay well and stay on the field, the Bills will have plenty of game-breaking potential.

At points last year I said out loud, why do we need any other WRs? Just toss it over the top to Goodwin every play. This guy makes NFL CBs look like sumo wrestlers. Antonio Cromartie got absolutely torched for one of Goodwins TDs. This kid is blazing fast. You cannot have the S up with him on the field

Agreed. Give EJ 1 more second to throw the ball and he can hit Goodwin in stride all day.

The guy is an Olypiac Track runner.

The Bills play at the Broncos in December this season. I wonder if Goodwin will sit that game out? Ryan Clark has sickle-cell also and he couldn’t play the last couple winter games in Denver
