Redskins will put Jason Hatcher, Stephen Bowen on PUP

The Redskins are going to be short on defensive linemen when they open camp tomorrow.

According to ESPN 980 (via, defensive ends Jason Hatcher and Stephen Bowen will be placed on the physically unable to perform list to open camp.

Hatcher had an arthroscopic procedure after minicamp, and is in the middle of the four- to six-week recovery time.

Bowen, however, is coming off microfracture surgery, which makes his return harder to figure.

Hatcher signed a deal with $10.5 million guaranteed to come over from Dallas this offseason.

That will stretch a defensive line that was already old, with most of its key contributors over 30.

We’ll be fine. We win Championships, we know what we’re doing. #HTTR

Well at least a porous defensive line will keep RG3 off the field thereby reducing his risk of injury. That’s a positive, sort of.

    My shocked face: o_O

We tried to tell ya’ll Hatcher was damaged goods, but you wouldn’t listen.

I said it before, and I repeat, both will show this season, and show well!
Everyone is sucking up to Kelly, and the Eagles, but the Redskins will take the NFC east by storm! We have the players, we have the skills, and we have the power! Not to mention a new coach to less the way!

“We’ll be fine. We win Championships, we know what we’re doing.” – LOL!

When exactly do you win championships? The Redskins (I do show support for the given name) have only won the Division once since ’99 for God sakes!

The ‘Skins will put up plenty of points. I have little doubt there. But the ‘D’ won’t allow for anything more than runner-up status this year.

Hatcher is a bum. He may have racked up 11 or so sacks last year, but, that’s seriously about ALL he did, and I don’t remember too many of those sacks coming on critical plays, either… Jerry Jones is improving at his job. He’s still the worst in the League, but he’s getting sharper, by golly.

Not saying much but Cowboys defense > Redskins defense.

    Better dline
    Weaker linebackers
    Better secondary

Its really getting harder and harder to defend any of the skins, I mean Redskins off season moves. Love those overpriced guys coming off huge seasons in contract years. Fall for it EVERYTIME!

Same old Deadskins. Get set for another 3 win season. lol

I heard they need to put them on the PUP now or they wouldn’t be eligible for it during the season. IR is for the whole season, but a player can come back from the PUP. And they can come off of it by the first regular season game at the least, I understand. Subject to correction.

How is that Hatcher signing working out for you redskins? Is Jerry crazy to not have signed him to a big contract now?

    Eagles 9-7
    G-Men 8-8
    Cowpokes 7-9 (bye Red!)
    Deadskins dead last @ 6-10
