Ryan Harris announces he’s signed with Chiefs

Ryan Harris, Keshawn Martin AP

Tackle Ryan Harris spent the first four years of his career as a member of the Broncos, so he’s familiar with being on the opposite side of the field from their AFC West rivals in Kansas City.

Now Harris is going to get a chance to see how the other half lives. Harris announced on Twitter that he’s signed with the Chiefs a day before they hold their first full-squad practice of the summer.

Harris was a third-round pick of the Broncos in 2007 and played 46 games with the team before moving on to Houston. He played in all 32 games for the Texans over the last two seasons and made five starts.

The Chiefs have Eric Fisher and Donald Stephenson set at left and right tackle, respectively, which likely leaves Harris with a chance at earning the swing tackle job behind them if he can beat out J’Marcus Webb during camp.

There… for all of you talking heads that keep braying over the Chiefs O-line losses, they just signed someone that is at least as good as Schwartz or Asamoah.

Incorrect. And both of those guys are guards, and good guards. Ryan Harris couldnt handle RT despite the Broncos giving him every chance to beat out scrubs.

If he is just as good as those guys, we was he available in late July?

im 31 and i remember being a teenager and watching this guy trying to make weight (or was it gain) for his high school team on MTV’s true life reality show. from notre dame to arrowhead welcome (though hopefully both teams will still have their names by the time he retires).

He will probably beat out Fisher in training camp.

and KC has replaced those guards, who played the same position, RG, with a guy who is standing out as a ready starter in Zach Fulton, also have Rishaw Johnson who had a solid start against San Diego last year. both cheap, with fulton having more upside than both asamoah and Schwartz at 1/5th the cost

Incorrect, both those guys are barely average guards and the Chiefs can get barely average for less than they cost, so the let them walk.
