Vernon Davis reports to 49ers training camp

The question has now been answered.

Vernon Davis is reporting to 49ers training camp after all.

The news was broken by teammate C.J. Spillman, who posted a video on Instagram of Davis in the locker room. He’s even greeted by teammates teasing him for making a “cameo appearance.”

The Pro Bowl tight end has been clear in his desire for a new contract, and the 49ers have been equally clear about not negotiating with anyone who isn’t there.

So while Joe Staley showed up and got paid, Davis and Alex Boone got nowhere (so far) by staying away.

Plus, a camp holdout costs $30,000 a day and the team can go after any previously paid signing bonuses, making it an expensive decision.

If this team loses a few games early. They are going to turn on their coach FAST. Could get ugly there.

Glad to hear, now play out your contract!

Good Davis is fairly paid. They should pay Boone, as he is vastly underpaid thou.

Good Kam Chancellor wants to help him “build his brand” as a speed bump.

Now that that piece of the puzzle is in place, here’s a prediction.

    NFC West

    San Fran
    Seattle (will miss playoffs)
    St. Louis

Smart man. I think he will get a raise. Maybe not quite as much as he is asking for, but enough to look good and keep him happy.

He will end up crying by Thanksgiving.

As he should. He most likely saw what the did for Staley and realized that if you show up and play ball you’ll get paid like you deserve.

I can’t wait for the season to start. The Quest for Six continues!

    GO NINERS!!!!!

Seems like a lot of 49er fans predictions/hopes before last season. I forget, how did last season end?

Apparently he finally listened to that voice of reason inside his own head, and came into camp. When you’re making the type money he does, I suppose a fine/penalty of a few thousand here and there doesn’t sting so much. His presence was/is crucial. And to my mind, Boone is almost as. True, there are other bodies they could plug in – but I vote for continuity. THE strength of this team is that O Line (I think letting Goodwin go was not a good move – NEXT season would have been better).

thats good hes here, but hes replaceble. if he continues to put himself before the team , we should reward him by trading him to the raiders.

Another PIGGGGGGGGG! How much is enough?

  19. omeimontis says: Jul 23, 2014 3:44 PM

If all the players who feel they are underpaid hold out for a new contract, then all the training camps around the country will be empty, because I have not heard a single play say he is overpaid.

Smart, real smart, the $270K he gave up by staying home is proably enough to put 2 of his kids through college. Now they may have to drop out of high school.
