Rolando McClain sentenced to 18 days in jail, appealing

The Cowboys are trying to give linebacker Rolando McClain another fresh start, but he still has to account for past mistakes.

According to Paul Gattis of, McClain was found guilty Friday of two misdemeanor charges from a 2013 incident in his hometown, and was sentenced to 18 days in jail.

(Man, when the Ravens hear about this, they might try to trade for him, just by reflex.)

McClain’s lawyer’s filed an immediate appeal to get to a jury trial, which will allow McClain to return to Cowboys training camp.

The charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest came after he allegedly yelled “F— the police” in a crowded park in Decatur.

There was apparently tape of that being said, but whether it was clearly McClain is in some dispute, according to his lawyer.

Police video did show McClain telling officers: “You can’t expect to be arrested 3 times in 3 years and play in NFL.”

Maybe he knew something we didn’t.

He doesn’t need to be traded to the Ravens. With his IQ and criminal record, he’ll fit right in with the Cowboys.

Have fun Dallas….on pace for the worst defense in NFL HISTORY.

As long as jerry Jones is an owner, you can.

And we traded this guy away? Yeah, my way of being sarcastic Oz! It’s just a game but these players are dealing with real-life legal issues! I wish them all the best. Go Ravens!!

Didn’t they try to arrest Ice T for the very same thing like 20 years ago? Except for Ice T said it in a song at a concert. If that’s all he did they gotta let that go.

Oz is disappointed he got rid of him too soon – they’re closing in on the group discount for legal defense.

I’m sure no cops have ever cursed at a football player on the field when he screwed up for their team, or while he was walking through the tunnel for another team.

18 days in jail for freedom of speech?

  20. viesczyd says: Jul 25, 2014 2:38 PM

He is arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest for protected political speech?

SCotUS has ruled in his favor, he is right to appeal.

I never thought I’d say; a team got ripped off for trading a 7th round draft pick for a player.

Please point out where, in the constitution it says freedom from consequences from someone acting on their freedom of speech

You think a leader like Ray Lewis would have taught his teammates how to avoid jail time

  24. richndc says: Jul 25, 2014 3:02 PM

Youse is all fancy pants! Obviously the ones commenting above prefer hot dogs with hair on them. He will still be rich and an NFL star, you will all still be broke, buncha stoopit haters!!!!

  25. steelerlady43 says: Jul 25, 2014 3:03 PM

He will win his appeal, Ray Rice beats the crap out of his lady on video and gets a slap on the wrist. There is absolutely no consistency in the NFL punishment and no deterrent so they keep “making bad choices” lol

First of all, you don’t have the right to say anything you want if it will disturb the peace – yelling out F the police when hundreds are gathered as the police try to do their jobs is not protected by free speech. Same way you can’t say bomb on airplane or fire in a crowded theater.

Whether or not there’s sufficient evidence is a different story. I have no idea what the judge saw so I have no opinion on that.

  27. shatho1 says: Jul 25, 2014 3:23 PM

so how does saying this make it resisting. I really haven’t got the whole story on exactly what he did but did he try fighting them or run from them while he said these things? if not then there was not any resisting.

18 days in jail and people are laughing at Dallas. Rice smacks and drags his woman and Ravens fans have the right to talk. Lol.

The Boys are obviously desperate . McLain showed almost NOTHING positive during his time in Oakland . Very slow to the ball and simply disappeared for long stretches of games . Watching him jog in support when the play was away from him made me sick to watch . Even worse effort when the play was run towards him . I have never seen a top 10 selected defensive player put forth such a poor / uninterested effort game after game . I use to wonder how he could sit through after game film review and not have a teammate just pummel him for his lack of effort .

This is a total waste of time by Dallas IMO . You can’t coach desire . Maybe if Rolando is completely broke he could be motivated but I doubt it .

Should have taken him straight to jail
