Christine Michael bangs up shoulder

Seahawks AP

As the Marshawn Lynch holdout lingers, his leverage spikes if/when any of the team’s alternatives at tailback gets injured.

If became when on Sunday, when second-year running back Christine Michael left practice with a shoulder injury.

“He just banged his shoulder a little bit,” coach Pete Carroll told reporters after practice.  “They think he will be ready to go on Tuesday.”

The injury serves as a reminder that Plan B can quickly becomes Plan C and so on, unless and until Lynch returns to the fold.  There’s been no progress along those lines, with Lynch wanting a new contract and the Seahawks refusing to rip up the last two seasons of a four-year, $30 million deal.

What’s going on with Niners and Hawks backup RBs

Michael is a hell of a baller, provided, of course, that he’s healthy enough to play and play effectively. So yes, anything that compromises Michael in any way has a positive impact on Beast Mode leverage. Definitely a good call on that one.

Christine bangs up her shoulder? I knew Al Michaels should not have let his granddaughter play football!

  8. braceyourselffor12 says: Jul 27, 2014 7:36 PM

He’ll be as good as new after going through Seattle’s costco size supply of PEDs.

    Get better soon, Michael.

Funny how the haters never acknowledge that Seahawks players are good, until they are unavailable because of a contract squabble or an injury. Suddenly, that player in question was so good he was the whole team, according to the haters.

    Christine?

  12. politicallyincorrect says: Jul 27, 2014 8:22 PM

who would play a RB named Christine???

beast is the only good offensive player the Seahawks have….. not really counting Harvin until he shows he can play more than part time

  13. joey49er says: Jul 27, 2014 8:23 PM

Lynch please hold out all yr and retire!!! so these pathetic seahawks fans will see how much u handed that trophy to them……And not the divorceeeee shrimp wilson…..lol

Lynch is overpaid now. Doesn’t he understand the market for aging tbs? Never mind.

Funny how seahawks fans talk about how good a player on their team is til he gets cut or goes elsewhere or holds out and then they weren’t part of the core group or they were on the decline or that guy that gained 54 yards last year is gonna be a top 5 back

You must be new. Beastmode don’t do practice. It’s ’bout that action boss.

I hope this means Spencer Ware gets some reps at tailback. I think he might surprise some folks in Seattle. I saw this kid ball out down here at LSU.

Seahawk team is slowing but surely beginning to come unraveled. Happens every time when a repeat is a possibility.

  22. omeimontis says: Jul 27, 2014 9:45 PM

I think they have plan c in place, because they had 3 castoffs work out for them. They are determined not to give in to Beast Mode. Beast Mode is going to report, I believe, but he won’t be happy. He may go through the motions this year.

To the Niner trolls and the one Tom Brady-loving troll: Here, iron my shirts!

  24. scoobaj says: Jul 27, 2014 10:05 PM

Lynch will be in camp Tuesday along with Michael and this will no longer be a story. Hawks are scary good this year, much improved because the players are 25 or younger and are still ascending in experience and skill.

capn0bvious finally got a clue, and is starting to understand how trash talk works. Congrats.

Wow! There are so many idiots in here! Painful to read these comments. I’ve never seen so many jealous people. Talk about glorification. EVERY team gets players banged in camp! Leave it to the haters to make something of absolutely NOTHING! Get down on your hands and knees and pray the Seahawks are decimated with injuries this year because that’s your only hope… People use these articles as a cyber wishing well.

  27. jcanderson2222 says: Jul 27, 2014 11:50 PM

One thing these haters forget is seattles ability to recruit and the depth of their bench. Most of seattles starting offensive line was plagued with injuries last year for a lot of the season but still dominated…

  28. sjsuguy says: Jul 28, 2014 12:48 AM

Lynch should fine them 50k a day that they don’t renew his contract. That team is looking more and more like a one and done by the minute. I don’t even think that all the PEDs in the world can save Pete the cheat and his boys now.

  29. osiris33 says: Jul 28, 2014 2:34 AM

Yeah they’re gonna unravel all the way to Glendale & Lombardi #2.

  30. cornerstone2001 says: Jul 28, 2014 3:57 AM

    PED’s should be available…

  31. marshawnsgrillz says: Jul 28, 2014 8:12 AM

What people don’t realize is that Marshawn is most likely going to get his contract restructured. They won’t give him more money; but they can take some of the money from next year and front load it to this year. That’s called a compromise is it not?

  32. olcap says: Jul 28, 2014 8:26 AM

What parents would name a male child Christine?

I think it’s time someone did something on the order of Johnny Cash’s “A Boy Named Sue”.

  33. jetsbandwagon says: Jul 28, 2014 8:31 AM

Dee Milliner is BY FAR the best CB in the league. It’s a bonus that he gets to play for the greatest franchise in the world, and God’s Team, the New York Jets! Richard Sherman really has zero rings because he used PEDs which in my opinion is WAY worse than what Ray Rice did!

Seachickens with no running game…. means Sammy Davis Jr ( aka known as chuck and duck Wilson) ain’t going to last long ..

  36. higheriqthanyou says: Jul 28, 2014 4:18 PM

    Chuck and Duck Wilson?

You do know he’s had the best first two years of any QB in NFL history – right?

  37. cowstache says: Jul 28, 2014 5:46 PM

So here’s what you do; Trade Terell Pryor to Houston For Andre Johnson, Give him the 8 million you have in cap room, and become a pass first offense. The Rams had success with this (greatest show on turf) for years. We have the weapons, and with Johnson it would be impossible to defend them all. Screw the run game.

  38. dthegiant says: Jul 29, 2014 9:50 PM

Since when does a name determine if you can ball or not? Keep sleeping on C Mike, and watch what happens when he gets in the game. “Haters keep Hating”
