Cordarrelle Patterson’s foot injury “improving every day”

Vikings wide receiver Jarius Wright considers teammate Cordarrelle Patterson a “talker,” but Patterson didn’t have much to say on Saturday about the foot injury that’s kept him off the field during the first two days of the team’s training camp.

Patterson hurt the foot last week, although he’s offering up no details about how he injured it or what the exact diagnosis might be. The Vikings aren’t saying much, either, but coach Mike Zimmer is willing to say that he doesn’t expect Patterson, who didn’t take the team’s conditioning test on Thursday, to miss much more time as a result.

“He’s improving every day,” Zimmer said, via the Pioneer Press. “I saw him do some stuff [Saturday]. … I’ll be surprised if it’s long.”

The hope for Patterson this summer is that he can further polish his skills so that the team can make even more use of his ample athletic abilities on offense this season. That makes any injury less than ideal, but a quick return to the field should leave Patterson with plenty of time to refine his skills before the start of the regular season.

What a baby, typical Viking player

Ohh noo Viking fans – looks like your future hall of fame WR has a Lisfranc injury. Done for the year.

    Maybe next year…

    Percy harvin 2.0

  4. nflpoker says: Jul 27, 2014 10:56 AM

Situation normal. Every team and every year, all 32 teams will have injuries in preseason. Nothing new. Unfortunately, knees get blown out and tendons tear. Patterson will be fine, as well as Wright.

  5. poiseup says: Jul 27, 2014 10:58 AM

Not a big deal! Maybe on Kick Off Returns! Viking defense will make sure he has plenty of chances!

    Best receivers in the league:

    *No one on the Vikings

  7. 700levelvet says: Jul 27, 2014 11:01 AM

Will the league turn a profit without Corradelle Rice and Teddy Montana ready for opening day. I hope he gets better soon, as this could be the demise of the NFL as we know it

  8. vickspuppy says: Jul 27, 2014 11:05 AM

Can’t be great in this league if you can’t even stay healthy during non-contact drills. This kid is soft. No wonder he wasn’t even mentioned as a candidate for OROY last season.

He’s a serviceable Special Teamer at best.

  9. moeman79 says: Jul 27, 2014 11:13 AM

Sounds like he just wants to avoid training camp time.

  10. golforepar says: Jul 27, 2014 11:13 AM

No need to worry, the Vikings still have “Baby hands” Bridgewater to carry the team!

Another diva in the making, looking to avoid practice already.

  13. smartestpackerfan says: Jul 27, 2014 11:32 AM

Still not as bad as Randall “Glass” Cobb.

  14. rikker12 says: Jul 27, 2014 11:32 AM

His injury might be getting better, but he’s not getting any smarter. (Bust)

  15. smartestpackerfan says: Jul 27, 2014 11:33 AM

As a Packer fan I am really confused. We keep saying this guy sucks, but he would be our best receiver…….

  16. admiralgeneralaladeen says: Jul 27, 2014 11:53 AM

Patterson back at practice today. Packers fans continue grasping at straws. World keeps on spinning.

  17. firerogergoodell says: Jul 27, 2014 11:55 AM

Listen to all the jealous Cheeseheads haha. Must still be upset about paying a white #2 WR 10M a year.

  18. garyridgway says: Jul 27, 2014 11:56 AM

It doesn’t matter. Even if he was healthy he still wouldn’t have a quarterback to get him the ball. Its like having a Ferrari but no gas to put in it.

  19. justatrophy says: Jul 27, 2014 12:21 PM

Patterson was in LA last week for the Espys where he said he was going to practice with Matt Cassel. He might’ve dinged his foot running routes for Matt.

It doesn’t sound like the foot injurie is very serious but I am a little worried about Capt. Munerlyns hamstring, fingers crossed.

13 days until the Vikings first preseason game, Skol 2014.

Now where was I, oh yeah… thoughtless provocative trolling on other teams comment boards sounds like a good waste of everyone’s time.

  20. tinbender2000 says: Jul 27, 2014 12:22 PM

His only problem, and it’s a huge one, is that when he does get healthy and back on the field, he’s still on the Vikings.

  21. kodatrout says: Jul 27, 2014 12:22 PM

irrelevant player on an irrelevant team

worst wrs in the north. Vikings
worst QB in the north. Vikings
worst D in the north. Vikings

  23. whatthehellisgoingonoutthere says: Jul 27, 2014 12:25 PM

Randal “Glass” Cobb broke his leg on a dirty hit. Who knows what happened to Patterson.

Besides…Patterson is a one trick pony bubble screen catcher because he doesn’t understand route running in the NFL due to being dumb as a box of rocks and having to go to junior college.

He’d be a nice #5 WR for the Packers to use on some gimmick plays and bubble screens once in awhile.

  24. nickynick04 says: Jul 27, 2014 12:37 PM

WOW ! Sounds ” Soft ” to me.
Viking fans call Cobb soft for breaking his leg on a dirty hit….in a game.
Patterson gets hurt in a non contact practice…
    Now who is soft again.
The Vikings are not a good team plain and simple
And their fans predict a Super Bowl win this year. And a dynasty.
This is worse then the Eagles ” DREAM TEAM ‘….Now THE DYNASTY !
You cant make this stuff up

  25. beerbratscheese says: Jul 27, 2014 12:40 PM

The Vikings traded 4 draft picks to the Patriots for Patterson.

  28. whatthehellisgoingonoutthere says: Jul 27, 2014 1:28 PM

That WR that Vikings fans are saying Packer fans are worried about making 10 million per year just happened to be on this list.

“There are only 4 players with 3,000+ Rec Yds & 30+ Rec TD over the last 3 seasons: Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, Jimmy Graham & Jordy Nelson”

And……..I’m sure most of you are trying hard to forget the game he laid on your team at the Metrodump last year.

    7 catches/123 yards and 2 TD’s.

  29. codythao35 says: Jul 27, 2014 1:30 PM

Better than Nelson back to future hall of fame’s contract. Aaron+Nelson=0 win=0 super bowl home boy!!!!!

  30. vikings84 says: Jul 27, 2014 1:40 PM

Without Aaron Rodgers the Packers are nothing. For example once Rodgers got hurt last year, the Packers went 2-5. Enjoy it while you can Packer fans, because once Rodgers hangs em up the Vikings will be looking at them in the rear view mirrors. Looking at each team this year I think they will be evenly matched, we shall see. #skol #dynasty

  31. realguy says: Jul 27, 2014 1:41 PM

As a Patriots fan in Minneapolis, Vikings fans get all whipped up by the duckies and bunnies show 9 to noon on KFAN in the preseason and think they have a 13 win team. Happens EVERY year.
Reality sets in about week 4.

  32. wombatmuffins says: Jul 27, 2014 1:43 PM

What’s the deal with Packers/Bears/Lions/Whatever fans coming onto the Vikings articles? Don’t you have anything better to do? Go to your articles and talk about YOUR team and how good you’re going to be and how bad everyone else is. But going on another team’s article to bash them is just straight up stupid and immature. Yeah Patterson got injured, but so is Dallas’ linebacker Sean Lee. And that happened during OTAs. I could give more examples, but just because it’s not a game doesn’t mean players getting injured are soft. You wouldn’t call ANY NFL player soft in their face. Step down, you keyboard warriors.

  33. whatthehellisgoingonoutthere says: Jul 27, 2014 1:45 PM

For comparison Nelson had half as many TD’s and 1/3 as many yards in one game against the Viqueen’s than Patterson had all season.

BTW cody, Nelson and Rodgers already have Super Bowl rings….home boy.

The only Viking player in their dismal history to have one was a thief.

  34. lnfinite says: Jul 27, 2014 1:54 PM

Let the trolls spew their hatred, it makes me laugh. Hope CP84 heals quickly..

  35. whatthehellisgoingonoutthere says: Jul 27, 2014 2:02 PM

Spew the hatred or spew the facts. 4TD and 400+ yards receiving and some kickoff returns is hardly something to get excited about or waste energy trying to compare to Super Bowl Champion Jordy Nelson, especially when you look at what Nelson has done in his career.

  36. cheeseisfattening says: Jul 27, 2014 2:19 PM

Seems like Packer fans keep trying to convince themselves Jordy Nelson is worth the money he is now getting paid. Ok, answer this question. When was the last time any team felt the need to double cover Jordy Nelson? Ever? LOL!

All that money tied up with Peppers and now Jordy Nelson, that is just great!

  37. stellarperformance says: Jul 27, 2014 2:26 PM

The Packers were virtually 3-4 while Rodgers was out, and close in all but the Lions game. The sixteen point come-from-behind tie against the Vikings was as good as a win. The Bears held all tie breakers with the Packers. The tie was the difference-maker in earning their third North Division Title in a row. And they did it with a fourth-string street-agent walk-on. If Rodgers suddenly retired today, I would not rule out a fourth division title in a row with either Flynn or Tolzien. They’re both better than anyone on the Vikings roster.

  38. teal379 says: Jul 27, 2014 2:40 PM

    Here’s the difference.

Packers win their division and have a top offense, even without their best players.

The Vikings are at the bottom of the standings WITH their best players.

  39. In Teddy We Trust says: Jul 27, 2014 3:22 PM

No wonder he wasn’t even mentioned as a candidate for OROY last season.

He was tied for third in OROY voting, despite hardly playing the first half of the season.

  40. bobnelsonjr says: Jul 27, 2014 3:50 PM

I hope Patterson gets well soon.

Now is not the time for Percy footing around.

The vikings need those 469 receiving yards he got last season. That’s 13.6% of the vikings receiving total!! He is clearly valuable.

  41. freddierb says: Jul 27, 2014 4:15 PM

For you guys that is calling C P soft, trying to miss days in camp. You must not have ever play football in there life.Guy sometime get hurt while get ready for training camp, every team has a player that injury them self preparing training camp.He will put up big number for the Vikings this year.

  42. sonofad says: Jul 27, 2014 4:22 PM

The Vikings traded 4 draft picks to the Patriots for Patterson.
Ummmm, how about telling the entire story. You are correct in that they traded 4 draft picks to move up and take Patterson. However, here is the breakdown.

2nd round (#52 overall) which helped them move back into the 1st round.
    3rd round (#83)
    4th round (#102)
7th round (#229) – NE traded to TB and TB then traded back to the Vikings where the Vikings received an extra pick.

In essence, the Vikings got a Pro Bowl player and only truly lost one pick.
