Jason Pinkston absent, and neither he nor Browns will say why

Hard to believe as it may seem, the Browns currently employ football players not named Johnny Manziel.  As to one of them, a question has arisen regarding his employment.

Via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, offensive lineman Jason Pinkston isn’t around.  And no one will say what’s going on.

“I can assure you I’m in no legal trouble and retiring hasn’t come up,” Pinkston said via Twitter.  “As far as my situation, I’ll leave it to them to explain.”

The only problem is that the Browns won’t explain.

“Pinkston’s unavailable to practice and due to his circumstances I cannot comment on it any further,” Pettine said.  “I want to give you more, but just given the circumstances, I can’t.  That’s where we are with Jason.”

Agent Neil Schwartz, who has a history of holding players out (including 49ers guard Alex Boone), couldn’t be reached for comment.

How prepared do you really need to be to be in last place again.

What could he possibly be holding out for? The guy missed almost all of last year with a blood clot and they signed another G to a good sized contract while drafting another. Im wondering if he is getting traded somewhere, maybe TB who could use some G help.

He had a blood clot in his lung last year. Just hope that problem hasn’t returned.

    Can’t, or won’t?

Stunning. Mary Kay confirmed this all on her own? “Uhhh, I can also confirm that Hoyer was taking snaps with the ones.” Stay tuned for more important late breaking news via Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer.

Pinkston, 6’4″, 305, was a 5th RD. pick in 2011. Athlon Preseason Mag lists him as the No. 2 RG behind rookie Joel Bitonio (2nd RD).

Really hoping it not anything medical.

I’m thinking either trade or suspension.

  12. martyseattle says: Jul 27, 2014 5:24 PM

The fact that the Browns say they ” want to give you more, but just given the circumstances, I can’t” makes it likely that it is a medical issue and HIPPA regulations prevent them from saying anything

Same comments made by Tampa right before they reached a settlement with Carl Nicks

Is there some way I can donate to the Browns to make them competitive again? The Ravens are falling apart and the Bengals are still the same ole dumpster fire.

Funny how this offseason, Pettine has had plenty to say about other teams’ players…. but his own player, not so much.

He’s a rookie head coach who already has too much attitude, he needs to wait until he wins something.

ESPN in McConnelsville, Oh. was speculating that he’s been traded, along with Connor Shaw, to the Titans for Jake Locklear.

Is it possible to write a story about the Browns without mentioning JM?

  18. chijbm says: Jul 28, 2014 1:33 AM

    Really hope it’s not MRSA

Stinkston II, the sequel. Too much baggage to have that surname after the debacled Philly WR.
