With Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James each suffering injuries this week, the San Francisco 49ers had to hit the free agent market to bolster some running back depth for training camp.

According to Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group, the 49ers have agreed to terms with former Arizona Cardinals running back Alfonso Smith.

Smith appeared in 43 games for the Arizona Cardinals over the last four seasons. He’s carried 48 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns in his career.

Hunter suffered a torn ACL and will miss the entire 2014 season. James suffered a dislocated elbow that should keep him sidelined for the next month.

Why not Bernard Scott formerly of the Bengals?

Alphonso had reservations about signing the deal. With all the injuries, he might actually have to do work for his wages for the first time in his career.

Alph signed with the guarantee that he wouldn’t have to average more than one carry per game as a 49er, and should not be expected to average more than 3 yards per carry.

    Hot garbage.

He’ll fit right in with those classless bandwagon fans in Santa Clara.

Is Alfonso the younger, less drunker version of Aldon?

Sorry but you must’ve meant seashells fans. Seattle fans, like yourself I assume, are surprised that an nfl team can have a stadium outside of their city limits. Back then the lions played in Pontiac, both NY teams play in NJ, the cowboys play about 20-30 miles away from Dallas. You see, that’s a strong indication that seagulls fans are brand new to the NFL.

It’s a proven fact, there is a 98.7 % chance that if your last name is Smith, you play/have played/will play for the 49ers.
