Lions activate Golden Tate from PUP list

The Lions opened up training camp without wide receiver Golden Tate on the practice field as a result of a shoulder injury that he suffered during the spring, but Tate was sure that he’d be an active participant before too much more of the summer was gone.

Tate was proven correct on Monday. The Lions have activated him from the Physically Unable to Perform list and the team’s biggest free agent addition is expected to take part in his first camp practice as a member of the Lions.

Tate’s return to practice will allow him to speed up the process of familiarizing himself with the offense being installed by offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi this offseason. Coach Jim Caldwell said, via the Detroit Free Press, that quarterback Matthew Stafford has shown good command of the offense and getting the guys catching his passes on the same page will be an important next step of the process in Detroit.

Defensive end Ziggy Ansah and rookie wide receiver T.J. Jones remain on the PUP list as the Lions open up their first full week of camp.

One of the biggest second round draft busts in NFL history. Only reason Golden “too short to get on the ride” Tait is relevant is because Wilson would give him 15 seconds to get open. Pair him up with that washed up calvin Johnson, you got worst 1-2 wr in the league.

That’s good news. We want all teams at full strength by opening weekend.

I still can’t beleive they overpaid this mediocre at best WR what they did in FA. He’ll be a cap casualty by year 3. Dude is a JAG-(just a guy)

Good luck Golden and don’t forget there is no “I” in team.

    Go Hawks!

If M.D. Jennings manages to make the Bears final roster it will be fun watching him and Tate go at it twice a year.

Tate is a baller. Stafford is gonna love this guy every time Calvin is double covered.

So all that’s left on the PUP list is Ziggy and some kid that’s going to land on the Practice Squad this year? Okay, that’s not bad.

The important question is: Did Golden Tate activate Ashton Wilson from his PUP list?

I am not familiar with the work of brokebackbrees so I’m not sure if this post is a weak attempt at humor or the drivel of a one of those bitter trolls who show up from time to time. It’s definitely not a contribution toward any insightful discussion about football.

It was a catch, and always will be a catch.

Golden Tate will ask himself why he left Seattle by the end of the 2014 season.

Golden is tough, not often injured. He’ll bounce back and do some good things for Detroit.

Not good enough to catch the Hawks of course, but good.

Not too worried about Ziggy because he will still have the same guys around him that he had last year. He’s plenty sharp enough to figure out the new system and he’ll be fine. Golden Tate has to work with a new quarterback, new system, and all new teammates. It’s good that he’s back on the field. He can’t afford to miss camp. I see a few negative comments about him but he was the top receiver for the reigning superbowl chmpions so he can’t be a total bust. As for CJ being washed up, release him tomorrow and see if any teams line up to sign him.

Yes, we all know M.D. Jennings made the catch.
