Report: Terrell Thomas signs with Seattle

Victor Cruz, Terrell Thomas AP

The Seahawks lost cornerback Walter Thurmond to the Giants as a free agent, costing them a bit of depth that they may fill with a player who used to play for the Giants.

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that the Seahawks have agreed to terms on a contract that will bring Terrell Thomas to Seattle. The move reunites Thomas with Pete Carroll, who was the head coach at USC while Thomas was playing for the Trojans.

Thomas returned from two seasons lost to a pair of torn ACLs in the same knee to play in all 16 games for the Giants in 2013, starting seven times and recording one sack, one interception and one forced fumble over the course of the season. It was a fairly remarkable comeback given Thomas’ injuries, which followed another torn ACL in the same knee earlier in his career.

He worked out for a few teams over the course of the offseason, but no one bit until Seattle took the plunge on Monday. The Seahawks have Richard Sherman, Byron Maxwell and Jeremy Lane back from last season, and there’s been positive reviews of 2013 fifth-rounder Tharold Simon after he missed his rookie season with an injury.

This was a solid signing in my opinion.

Good veteran player, will contribute if he stays healthy.

Nothing against Thomas but last year I hated the Winfield pick up because we had young guys waiting their chance and its the same with guys like Simon, Lane and Shead not to mention rookies that wont see make it to practice squad if cut.

Hope he stays healthy. Welcome to Seattle.

Report: Seattle DBs now called Legion of Snooze…prepare for Thomas to lose out on every matchup against a WR.

Always compete. Maxwell did well in his limited time last year, but bringing TT in sends the message that these guys still have to compete for their roster spot. Who knows if he’ll make the team, but if he does it’ll be good to have some more experience back there.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is that the REAL poet being classy?

Whatever you did today from the point of waking, please make this your normal routine. It’s cool to be kind.

The shehawks still trying to assemble a team since they are on the decline.bring in a CB who is always on ir.the shehawks should really be satisfied if they even reach 8-8.pathetic franchise and fanbase in for a wake up call.

Eh………. He was kind of mediocre with the Giants, not sure if he is LOB caliber.

Most of the guys in the backfield are beasts and are all over the place. I hope Thomas can live up to that or we are going to have a real problem at nickel and that is not needed when Seattle is known for their excellent pass defense.

    GO HAWKS!!!

I’m sure they’ll pump him full of PEDs and he’ll fit in fine.

Welcome to the Hawks Thomas. If you are ELITE and COMPETE HARD EVERY DAY, you have a CHANCE to make the team.

Crabtree vs Maxwell, Stevie Johnson vs Simon/Lane are good match-ups for SF, much better than Browner and Thurmond being there. Sherman is a stud so that is a bad match-up no matter what. That secondary will be good, but maybe a small step back IMO.

I believe in PC/JS and I support the name on the back of the jersey. I don’t care what the name changes to. Make it don’t I don’t care. Thank you for coming and giving your best and good luck. Why other fans are on these posts to trash us is sad. Go support your team. Know their names and be a FAN. Ty

Clearly Seahawk fans don’t know what a dynasty is. It’s kind of humorous. But enjoy while it lasts.

Getting someone’s castoff. Nice pick up Seattle. The retribution is on its way Hawks. It will be swift, ugly and painful.

We will. For the next 5 years.

The jealous are all back and that is great because you losers read every article about the Seahawks because you are worried about them. Pete is always looking at possible pick ups for the team and that means this guy is in for a look and a workout and if he has something to add to depth why not bring the guy in. In the first few years of Pete and John they made over 100 moves, some make it and a lot don’t. So you boneheads relax as camp has just started and there will probably be several more moves before the regular season starts and competition brings success. Save your whining until after the super bowl.

Who needs Walter Thurmond or Brandon Browner when you have Terrell Thomas, who couldn’t start all 16 games last season with the awful Giants D. To add insult to injury, he as let loose.

  28. decon49 says: Jul 28, 2014 10:00 PM

Terrell how good are you at holding at wr’s jersey?

  29. oreo51 says: Jul 28, 2014 10:20 PM

Thurmond Thomas was injured a lot prior to his break out year, last year. This could be another reclamation project that works for Pete Carroll.

  30. nineball26 says: Jul 28, 2014 11:04 PM

some free agents know who’s winning the next superbowl, that ring is worth a pay cut…

  31. rooster5150 says: Jul 29, 2014 3:57 AM

Only needs to be healthy enough to in the nickle package as a rotation anyway.

  32. islandfocus2 says: Jul 29, 2014 6:12 PM
