Report: Odell Beckham out at least another week

Giants coach Tom Coughlin is going to have to deal with being beyond disappointed about first-round wide receiver Odell Beckham’s absence from the practice field a little bit longer.

Jordan Raanan and Conor Orr of┬áreport that Beckham will miss at least another week as a result of the hamstring injury that troubled him in the spring and then flared up again during one of the opening practices of camp. That news won’t make Coughlin any happier, but there was some good news on Monday as an MRI came back negative for a more serious injury.

With the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday and another preseason game a week from Saturday, it would seem that Beckham will miss at least two preseason games. That won’t do him any favors as he tries to earn playing time ahead of Jerrel Jernigan and other receivers once the regular season gets underway.

Given the plans to utilize Beckham’s speed in the passing game, it doesn’t do the Giants’ offense any favors either.

Rest up. You’re going to need it to shine in that Jets preseason a’la Victor Cruz’s debut. 3 touchdowns?

It doesn’t matter whether Beckham is healthy or not. The Eagles are the class of the NFC East and will continue to dominate the division for years to come.

If you’re comparing this kid to Harvin and especially Hicks you just have no clue.

Odell Beckham is the real deal. This hamstring injury is not serious, the team is just saving him so he isn’t injured when the real season starts. When the season is done, he will be one of three players in the running for Rookie of the Year.

Bubble wrap him until week 1. No sense in letting this injury ruin his entire season.

Jarvis Landry will be a better pro receiver over the long run…

Jarvis Landry will have a better career in the nfl just like had a better career at lsu. Landry will prove to be one of the steals in the draft.

As a rival of Newman High School (St. Martin’s Episcopal), it irks me that they now have the Manning brothers and Odell in the league. That being said, Odell is the real deal and a great player and I know he will have a fantastic career.

Jarvis Landry was the more reliable WR in college. NFL teams are to focused on 40 times. Landry is as tough as a 2 dollar steak, he’s sneaky fast and he catches everything that is even close.

@ kev86 I’m sure the Giants will show up before the kickoff, not sure they will show up after the kickoff.

Luckily with 5 preseason games there is still time but it is a concern because he’s not getting the reps he needs and the timing with Eli.He will be like Randle last year running the wrong route and causing Eli to get intercepted.

Eli is doing just fine all by himself throwing interceptions. He doesn’t need any help at all.

It’s a preseason practice game. Offensively everything is have to crawl before you walk. Noone mentioning bills QB went 2 for 7. Last I checked defense wins championships!!! So many fake giants fans n haterz it’s been over 20 years n we’re only team with 4 rings n been only team sense 96 to bring trophy to nfc east twice. We’re gonna get better n when we do and we had 13 guys unsuited, teams will be afraid. Damn it’s a preseason practice game. Team ball n we looked pretty good as a TEAM.
