Packers add WR Gerrard Sheppard

In the NFL’s lone successful waiver claim Wednesday, the Packers added first-year wide receiver Gerrard Sheppard, according to the league’s transactions.

Sheppard (6-2, 211) had been waived by Baltimore on Tuesday. The 23-year-old Sheppard signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and earned a spot on the club’s practice squad as a rookie. Sheppard played collegiately at Connecticut (2008-2010) and Towson (2011-2012).

Sheppard’s addition gives the Packers 11 wide receivers, 10 of whom can practice, as rookie wideout Jeff Janis is on the non-football illness list. The move also puts the Packers at the 90-player roster limit.

    Instantly Green Bay #1 WR.

The Vikings are waiting for him to be cut. They wouldn’t take him without that stipulation.

What a tremendous opportunity for this lucky young man. Welcome to the most successful franchise in NFL history!

Wow, and they wonder why the first round of the playoffs equals automatic loss?

He has about as much chance of making the Packer’s final 53 as the Vikings do of winning the Superbowl, which is to say, no chance at all.

The Packers return 3 solid WR’s and drafted 3 more in addition to the 2 that finished last year on the PS. The best he can hope for is to make some plays in the pre-season so other NFL teams take notice. His second best hope is to play for a team outside the NFL, like the Vikings.

Being the 9th string wide receiver on the Packers is infinitely more rewarding than being the #1 receiver on the classless, trophyless Minnesota Vikings.

Carl Gerbschmidt just added him to his list of the Packers’ offensive weapons, along with somebody named White, Colt Lyerla, and something called Abbrederris.

One of the worst defenses in the league, so what does TT do? Get more wide receivers. Simply genius!

Considering the Packers will be likely cutting guys they even drafted at WR (Dorsey for example), Mr Sheppard has about zero chance of sticking. But the Packers do have a history of finding Wide Receivers off the street that produce. This guy has good size and they went out of their way to add a 11 th WR, so maybe they know something the rest of us don’t.

What a tremendous opportunity for this lucky young man. This is an organization that thinks Jordy Nelson is a #1.

This guy just won the “career opportunity jackpot.”

Here’s what you don’t understand about the Packers.

    We collect talent.

There is reason Ted is one of the top executives in the league and signed that new, shiny, cushy extension.

Hate on this cheese all you want haters, but were winners just about every year for the past 20 or so years. Coincidence? I think not.

There is about 5-7 teams that can honestly say that and odds are your team isn’t one of em.

Packers hoping that they are adding the good Sheppard.

Packs can have TT play WR for them too. Oh, wait can tasteless Aaron play D? They can have the whole 90 man roster play D and can’t even stop my granny. Pathetic franchise where all players go to die. LOL!!!!!!

Signing Gerrard Sheppard and Ted Thompson in the same day!

It’s a great signing day for the Packers!
