Michael Crabtree sits out Thursday’s practice

Earlier this week, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick said that he thought wide receiver Michael Crabtree is “a step or two quicker” than he was last season.

Crabtree has had more than a year to recover from the offseason Achilles tear that cost him 11 games during last year’s regular season, so it stands to reason that he’d be moving better this year than he was after his return to the team in 2013. The 49ers would surely like things to stay that way, which may explain why he wasn’t participating in practice on Thursday.

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports that Crabtree did not take part in Thursday’s session after leaving the field before the end of practice on Wednesday. Maiocco said Crabtree didn’t suffer any obvious injury during the session, but that he did receive some attention from a trainer during the session.

Absent any further information about an injury, it would seem to be a precautionary move to give Crabtree some rest now in hopes that it keeps him on the field for the more important business to come this season.

Brandon Lloyd will go for 60-950-5 no sweat. Crabtree schooled Sherm last yr and can put up 1200 easy. SF will be lethal

Meh he always does every training camp

  3. dirtysouthniner says: Jul 31, 2014 4:55 PM

Vets dont need practice if you dont change coordinators.. well not a ton of practice anyway… health>practice for crabbs

Crabs is a very good player, but lets face it – the last time he actually did anything in training camp was in high school.

    Mediocre-

    me·di·o·cre

    adjective

of only moderate quality; not very good.

Santa Clara 49er fans, learn that term.

Considering the injuries sustained by both Hunter and James it’s not surprising that the staff would rather him take it easy.

It is truly shocking how jealous Seahacks are of our franchise, trolling our articles. It’s as if they pay more attention to us then their overrated group of frauds.

The San Francisco 49ers are on the storied franchises in League history while groups like Seattle will get thrown in the discount bin along with other one win Super Bowl teams like the Jets and Bucs.

  8. shockhawk12 says: Jul 31, 2014 5:11 PM

And the way that Sherman hangs off Crabby like a cheap suit, he goes invisible anyway whenever he plays the World Champion Seahawks..
Ps- The Seahawks won a championship in THIS millennium

I’m most interested in whether the 49ers carry a 6th WR and whether that WR is Lloyd:

    1. Michael Crabtree (vet)
    2. Anquan Boldin (vet)
    3. Stevie Johnson (vet)
    4. Quentin Patton (2)
    5. Bruce Ellington (R)
    6. Lloyd/Osgood (ST Ace)

Seattle hasn’t had a one thousand yard receiver since 2007. I guess you guys should know all about mediocrity at the position.

Crabtree is MEDIOCRE and OWNED by Mr. Richard Sherman.

Oklahoma City wish they had Crabtree.

A healthy Crabtree plus better depth at the WR position…poor Seasterisks.

  17. juliusanonymous says: Jul 31, 2014 6:54 PM

Crabtree has scored exactly ZERO touchdowns against the Seahawks in all 10 games he’s played against us. That includes the worst Seahawk team in Seattle history, the 2009 Jim Mora Jr coached debacle that literally quit on their coach in the SF game. Crabtree still couldn’t score.

Yeah, he owns us all right. LOL.

Don’t worry Seahawks fans, once your great(x72) grandchildren witness your Hawks win their 5th Lombardi, they will know how special it is.

  21. juliusanonymous says: Jul 31, 2014 8:20 PM

Well, as a Seahawk fan, I sure am enjoying getting to actually watch my team win Superbowls right now rather than hear stories about it from my grandpa like 49er fans.

The best part is watching Kaepernick cry at the Superbowl about what coulda shoulda been. LOL.

Crabtree isn’t a training camp guy. Never has been. It shouldn’t make news.

  23. dacktle49 says: Jul 31, 2014 9:17 PM

Watching your team win Superbowls? How do you figure Julia? They squeaked one out last year so that would count as one unless you consider the one they lost to the Steelers as a win.

  24. framonda49 says: Jul 31, 2014 9:49 PM

It’s funny how the seatrolls talk all this smack about the niners wideouts. When boldin schooled Sherman bad last year in San Fran. Can’t wait for the season to begin.

C’mon dacktle49, let’s not hurt Julia’s feelings. We have to let them believe last year’s SB was a legit one.
