Steve Gregory signs with Chiefs

The Chiefs have a couple of safeties on the injured list right now, which may have helped them decide to add some depth at the position.

Agent David Canter announced on Thursday that his client Steve Gregory has signed with the Chiefs for the coming season.

Gregory was released by the Patriots in February after playing 26 games with the team over the last two seasons. Gregory started 23 of those games, recording 116 tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Eric Berry left Chiefs practice early on Thursday with an ankle injury, although coach Andy Reid and others have downplayed the severity of the injury since Berry was removed from the field. Sanders Commings had ankle surgery on Thursday, however, and that absence could stretch a bit longer.

Even with everyone healthy, Gregory would be a viable competitor with Husain Abdullah for the starting spot next to Berry. He’ll get the chance to win that job over the next month or so.

This guy is weak. Dude got torched every game last season till Belicheck sat him on the end of the bench. Scrub. Idk what Andy was thinking on this one

Immortalized forever as a participant in the unforgettable Sanchez Butt Fumble. Who needs a championship when you have that going for you?

10 bucks says his signing has more to do with his time in San Diego, and maybe its the counter to SD signing Flowers.

He will be most remembered for his Scoop 6 on the most memorable play in the Jets history, the Butt fumble.

This is an example of why the “next man up” theory has about as intelligence as a box of gravel.

Eric Berry goes down and Steve Gregory gets signed. It’s a case of subtraction by addition. The Chiefs would be better off playing shorthanded.

Steve Gregory is going to truck stick every receiver over the middle with 10 interceptions.

This season is going to be his cumming out party.

Pats will trade Thompkins and Ridley for the chance to have him back.

He started last year and the patriots chose to cut him and NOT resign him for the veteran minimum for depth purposes. Clearly, either duron Harmon is the next earl Thomas or he wasn’t good.

I called him “2 steps” because it seemed like he was always 2 steps to late

Smart player, but it says a lot when the Pats don’t resign Gregory but bring back Patrick Chung.

Gregory was only 11 the last time the Chiefs won a playoff game.

Belichick hasn’t been able to identify good talent in a defensive backfield for over a decade.

Who knows what he is at this point.

pats only released him because he had a 3.6 million dollar cap hit, and the chiefs offered more than the vet minimum he could have gotten elsewhere. heard on the internets that he was in the process of signing elsewhere when the chiefs called his agent. great signing that adds some experience and stability to the depth chart at S.

How about it. I wish Gregory good fortune, I liked how he was willing to put his beak into it, but he’s probably a 3rd or 4th safety in reality.

I’m amazed Bill went with Chung. The Philly fans sounded ready to go torch and pitchfork on the guy.

he will be no more than a 3rd or 4th safety in KC. berry and abdullah are the starters, and he will battle it out with mcmillian and bronson for the other spots.

Gregory was a great guy, smart, and willing to do whatever he could to help out the team. I’ll always have a fondness for him because of his prime-time buttfumble TD on Thanksgiving.

They pulled the trigger on this pretty quickly. Guessing Commings is done for the year and about to be put on IR…again.

He wasn’t even alive the last time KC won anything. You probably weren’t, either.

He wasn’t alive the last time Oakland won anything either. So what’s your point? SMDH.
