Riley Cooper wearing walking boot, but foot injury isn’t serious

Riley Cooper AP

One of the Eagles’ key wide receivers is in a walking boot.

However, it’s not a big deal, according to coach Chip Kelly.

Wideout Riley Cooper is sporting the boot for a minor foot injury, the Eagles’ head coach said Friday, according to the club’s Twitter feed.

According to the club, Kelly indicated Cooper isn’t expected to miss more than a few days.

The 26-year-old Cooper set career-highs in catches (47), yards (835) and touchdowns (eight) in 2013. The Eagles signed him to a new five-year contract in February.

Paging Jordan Matthews, please report to the starting line-up. Once he’s there, I don’t think he will be supplanted for a very long time.

Eagles fans don’t even have a clue how much they will miss DeSean Jackson.

Cooper is a joke and a fluke. Maclin is half the player DeSean is. They have no safety net of Bryce Brown behind LeSean McCoy anymore.

Eagles will finish in 3rd place this year.

I heard that he hurt his foot by tripping over his sleep monitor while he was drinking a customized smoothie. Gotta love the hocus pocus coming out of Philly.

    ………………….
Did I say that the Cowboys would finish in first anywhere in my post?

No, because I’m a realist. Cowboys probably wont finish in first place or second. But neither will the Eagles.

Facts are facts. Don’t get mad at me for preaching the truth, brother.

so cowboys fan, you said the cowboys won’t finish first or second and the Eagles will finish third , so your boys will be in last place is what you’re telling me. sounds about right, except for the eagles in third place . I believe they will take the division.

Eagles own this division and ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE! You get these dudes on here that play Madden too much and think that Desean Jackson will run past everybody that covers him.

Have the cowboy fans moved on from DWare yet? The cowboys defense rides on some guy named Bruce Carter?!? Lol there’s not ONE linebacker in the NFC East that can keep up with Shady or Sproles out of the backfield.

Jim Harbaugh, Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly: all pac10 coaches with top 5 rushing attacks in the NFL that can coach the game and replace problems with players.

Cowboys got a few yrs till their sniffing the playoffs! Lol FRAUDS!

Americas team? Wasn’t that like 25 yrs ago? Lol cowboys fans, don’t make me chuckle!

Hopefully while he is out Copper doesn’t do something really stupid like attending a Kenny Chesney concert.

Let’s talk facts about the myth that surrounds Desean Jackson’s production:
    1. If Desean’s best 4 games in ’13 are omitted he averaged <56 ypg. Translation: He put up big numbers against pitiful defensive teams.
    2. Desean Jackson didn't command more attention. He couldn't get off the line. Riley was able to beat press coverage. That was the reason for his success. Not Desean getting double covered. It didn't happen.
    3. The defenses played man to man against Philly most of the time. It only makes sense because of the pace of the Eagles offense. Desean wasn't beating his man consistently. Look at film/ProFocus breakdown. Look at whatever you want. Desean constantly got shutdown.
    4. Defenses played the run against the Eagles more than 62% of the time. In that scheme only one safety was in deep coverage. Where is this mythical double team every9is saying Desean was getting. It sure wasn't in the games.
    5. Maclin, Ertz improvement, Sproles and an upgrade over Avant in Matthews can certainly account for 70 touches.
    6. Desean was a poor head to head blocker. He was good at pursuit blocking. But falls short in the previous. Every WR on the team is an effective head to head blocker. This is important now that Sproles is on the roster.

    Zero Rings.

  13. gotthepebbleoutthemastershand says: Aug 1, 2014 1:47 PM

Zero rings? That’s the best you got? And someone followed up with a “like”. How about this? The Eagles are the only team to ever beat Vince Lombardi in a playoff game. The name in which the trophy is named after. The Eagles can still win a Super Bowl. But no one else will ever be able to beat Lombardi in a playoff or championship game.

DJAX has over 6000 yds and 32 TDs in his 6 years in the league. Not to bad for a guy that you say can’t break coverage. These other receivers you Eagle fans seem to want to enshrine in the hall of fame Maclin and Cooper have never had a 1000yd season and Mathews hasn’t even played against a real NFL corner. So the FACT is DJAX is a better receiver than any of the other Eagle receivers. I wouldn’t put much stock in the fact Sproles lit the Cowboys up..at the time he was playing for a real coach who has actually won a ring not the smoothie king.

  21. haansel82 says: Aug 2, 2014 9:42 PM

You will be surprised to learn how many catches Desean had versus the attempts made. He had one of the worst percentages in the league.

Compare him to Maclin all day long. In the same lineup, Maclin was the better receiver. Fact.

Desean is a 4.35 40 receiver, who ran a 4.27 once right? Maclin is also a 4.35 receiver who ran a 4.29 before. If you think Coopers and Matthews are slow, I cant wait to see your posts mid-season when these guys prove they can do it better than Desean. I want a team player, not a cancer who thinks he is better than everyone, yet disappears against decent secondaries.

Maclin will smash Deseans “record” setting year in this offense. Finally, we get receiver who live for Sunday, and not for the next paycheck.
