Steelers sign RB Jawan Jamison

The Steelers have made a change to their RB corps, signing Jawan Jamison and waving Alvester Alexander, the club announced Friday.

A 2013 seventh-round pick of Washington, the 23-year-old Jamison spent most of last season on the Redskins’ practice squad, then was promoted to the roster for the final three games. Washington waived Jamison in March.

A Rutgers product, Jamison (5-7, 203) rushed for 1,075 yards and four TDs in 2012 for the Scarlet Knights. He’ll compete to be the Steelers’ fourth back. Le’Veon Bell, LeGarrette Blount and Dri Archer will take three of the depth chart spots at tailback for Pittsburgh.

The 23-year-old Alexander is a first-year pro from Wyoming. He spent last season on the Steelers’ practice squad.

After being tebowed out of the playoffs years ago and o winning seasons and o playoff appearances Since , I guess players from other teams practice squads are probably better than what you have/had

    Steelers still have a team?

Pittspuke: your too sad. It must suck having so little else in your life besides your jealousy of the steelers that you make your screen name what it is. If I had to guess, I would say that you are a ratbirds fan who still has the 2008 afc championship game and the 2010 divisional playoff game in your mouth. Remember when troy pick-6’ed jumpball joe? I do. Happened about 100ft in front of me.

Also! First camp fight tonight at the Steelers traditional Friday night practice at Latrobe! Vince Williams vs Le’Veon Bell, with teammates jumping in. Joey Porter of all people helping to break it up. They’re getting chippy, folks! The games start soon! Yay. I heart football. Soccer sucks!

Do you even have a team or is your whole existence here hating the Steelers?

The Steelers lost their last playoff game just over 2 years ago. If you’re a Bungles fan are you happier about your team losing all of its playoff games?

Next time I’ll explain to you that 31 teams lose every season.

All of these RBs will be available on the WW in my 16 team fantasy league.

An excerpt from another well known but not to be named sports siteFantasy Projection: Someone needs to remind Bell that he’s 244 pounds. His running style just isn’t as punishing as it should be. Every time he hurdles a potential tackler, he sends a message that he’s not thrilled with physical play. The numbers prove it too: Bell’s 1.58 yards after contact per rush in 2013 was 26th among RBs. That’s not high enough for a guy who generates his kind of power.

Alexander spent last season on the Stealer practice squad. It makes sense to the intelligentsia coaching the team, because Jamison actually was promoted to the roster for the final three games last year, so that’s a HUGE factor in making that decision.

    It’s the Tomlin way.

  17. olcap says: Aug 2, 2014 9:41 AM

I think another deciding factor could be that Mr. Tomlin likes the ring of his name “Jawan Jamison”.

And that he can call him “JJ”.
