DeSean Jackson gets another day off from practice

Jackson

Washington needs and expects a big impact this year from unexpectedly available free-agent receiver DeSean Jackson. Toward that end, the team is being careful with its newest weapon.

Jackson didn’t practice on Saturday. It’s the second full-pads session Jackson has missed since training camp opened.

We held DeSean out,” coach Jay Gruden said, via Tarik El-Bashir of CSNWashington.com. “He had a little soreness in his legs.”

Washington has Sunday off before starting three days of joint practices with the Patriots on Monday.

“Just trying to keep him fresh,” Gruden said of Jackson. “He’s been running a lot.”

Gruden hopes Jackson will be running a lot this season, preferably with the ball in his hands.
