Ravens, 49ers cancel August 8 joint practice

Harbaughs AP

The Ravens and 49ers, coached by the Harbaugh brothers, had planned to conduct a joint practice on Friday, August 8 at M&T Bank Stadium.  Key word:  had.

The Ravens have announced that the practice has been canceled due to the limitation on consecutive days of practice or football activities during training camp.  The 49ers would have violated that provision if the team had practiced on Friday, the day after a preseason game against Baltimore.

“We’re very disappointed for fans who were planning to attend Friday’s practice against the 49ers,” Ravens team president Dick Cass stated. “We hope some of them will be able to come to the practice at Navy on Monday.”

The press release announcing the cancellation softens the blow a bit by pointing out that it would have been a walk-through-type practice only, and that player autograph signings would not have occurred after practice.

The good news is that the development gives the Ravens a little bad news unrelated to the Ray Rice situation.

Would you rather have Flacc Jacket as your QB or a guy who looks like Alice the Goon?

…and Anquan Boldin will be traded back to the Ravens for a new water boy.

I’m sure all the Niners players are disappointed that they won’t be able to enjoy the lovely city of Baltimore for a second day. They probably had plans to go shopping at the rows of 99 cent stores & Kmarts.

Too many court dates for all the criminals on these 2 teams. Ravens fans are wagon jumpers….fact!

Yes, cause everyone wants live in Pittsburgh. Home of the yinzer, and a terrible sandwich. There’s a reason there are Steelers fans everywhere. Cause they all wanted to get the heck outta there.

Geez, the constant digs at Ray Rice are getting old and tedious. Time to drop Ray for awhile and go back to savaging the Redskins to change their name.

No you’re wrong, Ray Rice is a POS and deserves all the criticism he gets. He’s a women beater and needs a severe beat down. Now kids think its ok to beat women, they see that a 2 game suspension isn’t a big deal so it’s not that big of deal to hit girls. So ridiculous. This country gets worse every year with morals and values.

The Niners could always scrimmage that high school team across the bay……I think they call themselves “The Raiders”

Lord Kaep will not practice with sinners.

They can scrimmage next year when John is an assistant at Mich and Jim is on the NFL today.

    To PoorCalvinetcetcetc above:

Even Woopie Goldberg says some women deserve a punch in return when they themselves get physical with a man. According to Ms. Goldberg this has something to do with equal rights for both genders.

With that said, I’m not condoning hitting women, but none of us were in that elevator when the altercation occurred so the macho guys on PFT screaming about men hitting women being so bad are full of BS because they don’t know what really happened that day.

Rice has apologized, Rice has taken his lumps from the justice system, Rice is receiving “treatment and counseling,” and Rice has met with the Commissioner.

Also, Rice has endured having his name spit and pissed and shat on all over the Internet by at least seventeen million judgmental fools who were NOT there to see what really happened.

I think it’s time to put this story to bed and move on.

What are you his lawyer or Raven’s fan either way or neither way you really have twisted view to come up with this Whoppie, equal rights crap…

    1) Hitting a woman is wrong, period.

    2) No one had to be there, the camera showed us everything, Duh!

Get bent oracle, you a pathetic excuse for human being just like Ray.

You want this to disappear after 5 days?? He’s a pos garbage and so is the organization for keeping him on the roster. No one had to be in the “elevator” They both admitted it, Einstein. You’d like to put it to bed, but it’s not going away. Just like the Saints pay-for-performance debacle, and NE’s taping at the wrong location…it’s here to stay.

to heck with a practice game…

I’m still trying to get an answer why the heck JH attempted to throw to Crabtree 4 straight times in that SB goal line stand? I’d have tried my luck with Vernon Davis at least twice…what a head scratcher that wuz!

  19. Most of you would be rapturous if your team won just one measly Super Bowl. We won it once, then again, and again, and again, yet again, oh, look, another one. You shrivel in our shadow. We define greatness. We built the NFL. We are the Steelers. says: Aug 2, 2014 4:48 PM

What a lowly city Baltimore is. Santa Clara isn’t much better. Pittsburgh was created by the hand of God himself.

  20. sdsmooth says: Aug 2, 2014 4:52 PM

Aren’t the majority of these teams’ rosters in jail? Pretty hard to hold a joint practice when each sideline is doing time.

Wow, a bunch of heretics on here. You look silly speaking ill of Pittsburgh. Try reading some history.

There is no “bad news” related to the Ray Rice story any more; that’s all in the rear view and all concerned are moving forward.
    Go Ravens

  25. drewzducks says: Aug 3, 2014 1:07 AM

Bad idea. It’s always a good idea to keep all the criminals together in the same place. Maybe they thought when they called for the chain gang the players would be too confused.
