Jets lose Jermaine Cunningham to torn Achilles

The Jets have a deep group of outside linebackers, or at least they had one.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Jets believe Jermaine Cunningham has suffered a torn Achilles, which would almost certainly end his season.

The former Patriots linebacker had stood out early in camp, and figured to play a role as a third-down rusher.

The Jets brought in veteran Jason Babin recently, and that signing will be crucial now, as their depth is tested.

Wonder if all these torn achilles guys will team up and sue the NFL. Sadly it wouldn’t totally shock me.

The Achilles tendon is a ‘tendon’. Not a ligament.

  7. Most of you would be rapturous if your team won just one measly Super Bowl. We won it once, then again, and again, and again, yet again, oh, look, another one. You shrivel in our shadow. We define greatness. We built the NFL. We are the Steelers. says: Aug 3, 2014 12:05 PM

It was the best achilles tear of all time.

All of these tendon and ligament tears aren’t a coincidence. This is a direct consequence of these new age PEDs.

on this very column,,,5 months ago when he started running his pie hole on how he was going to THUMP the pats and crush brady,,,I and every PATS fan told you he had injury issues, that he would never see the field and was not a “PLUS” for your “D”,,but like 100% of Jets fans your heads are too swollen to accept any opinion other than your own.

I want the jets to be good only to see Rex snorting and foaming like a pig in defeat. Very entertaining.

Brandon Spikes on the Bills, not Jermaine Cunningham, has been running his mouth. Jermaine has had some injury problems as an NFL player, and he had a PED suspension, but I don’t think he has shown a big mouth.

Unfortunately this might be a career ender for someone who seems to be basically a decent kid as far as NFL players go.

Too bad always liked him when he played but that was too infrequent. Sorry to tell you Jests but Dowling is probably next.

What on earth are you talking about? No one even expected him to play much.

    Sorry to hear. Injuries suck.

I hold my breathe this time of year as everyone is making the transition back to football. Dangerous time

I heard he tore it himself once he realized how embarassing it would be to be known as a “Jet”.

It was best of tears, it was the worst of tears…

Seems like pre-season conditioning isn’t what it used to be. Far too many tendon issues to be a coincidence. Too bad. Some good guys have gone down, perhaps needlessly.

Sorry this happened, even if he did go to the dark side.
