Report: Packers fans booking rooms for Favre’s possible HOF induction in 2016

Brett Favre can first gain enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.

And some fans are reportedly banking on just that.

Canton hotels have already started to receive reservations from Packers fans, Todd Porter of the Canton Repository reported Sunday. (A hat tip to Judy Battista for NFL.com for pointing this out.)

Favre, who turns 45 in October, last played in an NFL game for Minnesota in 2010. He spent 16 seasons with Green Bay before briefly retiring after the 2007 season.

If Favre would have stood pat with that decision, he may well have made his Hall of Fame speech as a member of the Class of 2013. Alas, Favre went on to play three more seasons, two with the Vikings, the Packers’ longtime rivals.

Indeed, his could be a memorable Hall speech.

Favre undoubtedly wants to forget his time with the low-class Minnesota Vikings, watching from the sidelines as his former team won an unprecedented 13th world championship without him.

That was enough to send him into retirement, and probably into therapy as well.

  2. jxt2521 says: Aug 3, 2014 1:08 PM

I’ve got my room booked already…. He’s done so much for so many people. the world is a better place because of him.

Oh wait he just played football and entertained me for a few years. People need some perspective and fuller lives.

  3. tokyofilthblaster says: Aug 3, 2014 1:13 PM

Viking fans had booked their Superbowl trip before he threw that season ending pick to Tracy Porter.

That was pretty funny. Thanks Bert!

  4. floratiotime says: Aug 3, 2014 1:16 PM

Then another round of all the fanboy whiners pitching their guys who didn’t make it. I can hardly wait.

the best qb gb ever had. im glad hes retired. he allways gave the 49ers problems, rodgers…not so much. Favre owns 49ers , 49ers own rodgers.

  6. 1973to1991packerssuckedbigtime says: Aug 3, 2014 1:31 PM

They should be sold out in no time. What is there, a Super 8 and Motel 6 in Green Bay?

I suppose some of the fans rent out their trailer house and storage shed for the games.

  7. themeccalambeaufield says: Aug 3, 2014 1:34 PM

I grew up watching him and he was fascinating to watch. You never knew what was coming next but with his style of play he always had me on the edge of my seat. The guy will down as one of the greatest and I am just happy he played for such a historic franchise in G.B.were I could root for him because I imagine it had to be frustrating for opposing fans.

Favre was a great QB who did so much for the Packer’s return to the top. However, not sure I want to hear his HOF speech. When it comes to speaking he is a “rambler” which is probably why he is not in a TV booth somewhere. Anyone who may have seen his one broadcast for a college game probably understands what I am saying.

So strange. Posters focusing on insulting the Vikings rather than celebrating the time Favre spent in GB. Sad really.

No he isn’t and neither is Aaron. Bart Starr is the ONLY QB with a ring for EVERY finger of his throwing hand.

Bart is the best QB the Packers ever had and often overlooked when it comes to QB’s in general. He and his WR’s set records that took till Jerry Rice to break in a time when the passing game wasn’t big.

And the 49’s don’t “own” Aaron Rodgers – he’s never had much problem against them. The defense is a different story but #12 doesn’t play that side of the ball.

    ————————————-

How long do you think it takes to make a room reservation?

As for Favre, despite all the crap he pulled off the field late in his career, his on field resume is, without question, first ballot worthy.

  18. tomnickle says: Aug 3, 2014 2:15 PM

It’s pretty funny that 49ers fans justifiably say that the Niners own Aaron Rodgers. While they have certainly gotten the better of him in his time as Green Bay’s Quarterback, I believe he has a Superbowl Win while the Harbaugh lead Niners have none.

Also funny that if the Niners had Rodgers, they would in all likelihood have a three-peat in present day.

  19. mshawn75 says: Aug 3, 2014 2:31 PM

Hope Brett is ready to buy a plane ticket. HOF won’t send a private plane and a couple of players begging for his presence.

  20. lnfinite says: Aug 3, 2014 2:31 PM

What is so funny about this is Packer fans still hate Brett for wearing purple. It still makes me laugh even to this day becauseao many Packer fans are still so petty and shallow.

How many Playoff ending interceptions did he throw?

And STILL only one Super Bowl win and four appearances for the NFC Central in that time period.

    Vikings-0-3
    Bears -1-0
Lions -0-0 (never made it to the Super Bowl)

1991 to today there were 4 NFC North appearances and two wins.

    Bears 0-1
    Lions 0-0
    Vikings0-0
    Packers2-1

The Packers were not good and STILL no one from the NFC Central/North has a better Super Bowl record.*

*Tampa Bay was in the NFC Central from 1977-2002

  27. whatjusthapped says: Aug 3, 2014 3:23 PM

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Favre unretired one more time for a team that really needs a qB. Childress isn’t there in Minnesota anymore so it would take an equally desperate coach with an equally sizable set of knee pads to lure Favre out of retirement. Maybe the current coaches have too much dignity.

  28. atthemurph says: Aug 3, 2014 3:26 PM

Vikings fans won’t be able to make the HOF induction. They’ll be celebrating their annual best team on paper summer championship.

Packers fans will show up to thank one of the best QBs to ever play the game as he is inducted into the HOF.

Those same Packers fans will not be there to celebrate his very flawed personal life because induction into the HOF is a professional award.

True story: The storied Green Bay Packers were so terrible for a full quarter century, they played their non-divisional home games in Milwaukee because Packer fans were too apathetic to travel to Green Bay to watch such a disappointment.

    ************************************************************

None of that is true, except for the fact that the Packers used to play 3 home games a year in Milwaukee. That started in the 1930’s and continued to the 2000’s.

Funny how packer fans criticize Favre for his off the field stuff. It was never a problem for ‘em before he left Green Bay.

  54. greengoldandbold says: Aug 4, 2014 7:33 PM

I suppose the Vikings fans are going to take offense to the fact Favre will go into the NFL H.O.F. as a Green Bay Packer. They think they saw his best in Minn but the facts show he carried that team. They had nothing else to offer. He had a TEAM in GB.

  55. 84pattersonisthedude says: Aug 4, 2014 7:46 PM

Typical ignorant Green Bay hater. The article is about the NFL hall of Fame which is in CANTON OHIO, not Green Bay. My toddler cousin can make better insults about teams he doesn’t like.

Anyways, I hated the fact that he wore the Vikings jersey, but most of us know that he’s not the Six Million Dollar Man and his ankle simply couldn’t handle the beatings. Thompson going with Rodgers was the right thing to do because who knows what would’ve happened to Aaron if they stuck with Favre. He has to be a first ballot HOF’er and it’ll be a shame if he isn’t. Vikings fans Will just have to accept the fact that he’ll be going in with the green and gold.

  57. diveleft says: Aug 5, 2014 1:49 PM

How in the world did Packer fans stumble upon the fact that the Football Hall of Fame is in Ohio?? I bet if you were able to check the hotels in either Canton, Kansas or Canton, Georgia, there will undoubtedly be some reservations from Packer fans listed.

  58. zerochampionshipsmustsuck says: Aug 5, 2014 11:36 PM

Poor little Queenie fans, championships are for real teams. Could not have scripted it any better, Favre goes to Queens, throws INT at crunch time against Saints (because he really bleeds green & gold) and the next year GB wins Super Bowl with Rodgers. Funny Queens comments about Rodgers sound just like what they used to say about Favre, Be careful, in 9 or 10 yrs he might be playing for the Queens when he’s done in GB and you’re still hoping a former Packer can rescue your sorry excuse for a NFL team.
