One of the Falcons’ key offseason additions to their defensive line reportedly could have a broken wrist.
Rookie defensive end Ra’Shede Hageman is “believed” to have a hairline fracture in his wrist, ESPN.com’s Vaughn McClure reported Sunday.
According to McClure, Hageman threw a punch at center Joe Hawley during Sunday’s practice. He was then tended to by the club’s medical staff.
“I think we’re all talking about competing and fighting for jobs, but we’re not talking about fighting each other,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said after practice, according to ESPN.com. “We’ve got to understand that. It’s not what we’re about.
A second-round pick from Minnesota, Hageman was the Falcons’ first defensive selection in the 2014 NFL Draft.
UPDATE 8:57 p.m. ET: Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Hageman does not have a broken wrist.
