The Seahawks have added a veteran offensive lineman to their roster ahead of the start of the preseason schedule.
Smith entered the league as a third-round pick of the Dolphins in 2003 and spent parts of four seasons in Miami before moving on to the Jets and Chiefs. He finally settled into a steady job with the Texans, starting 64 straight games for the team over the last four years and making the Pro Bowl as a guard after the 2012 season.
His play slipped along with everything else in Houston last season, but he has also spent time at tackle and center at various points in his career so he should offer good competition for a reserve role at the very least. He’s the second former Texan offensive lineman to join the team in the last few days, joining right tackle Eric Winston as experienced additions to the Super Bowl champs.
