Jets could lose rookie Shaq Evans for season with shoulder injury

The Jets tried to fix their wide receiving corps by buying in bulk this offseason, and they’re already losing guys.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, rookie wideout Shaq Evans could be gone for the season with a shoulder injury.

That shoulder looks pretty bad,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said. “We’ll see how that goes, but it doesn’t look good right now. We talked to him about it, too. He had the other shoulder [injury] before. But this one seems to be bothering him a lot more. This looks like a severe injury.”

Evans was one of three fourth-rounders the Jets had this year, and one of three third-day wideouts chosen.

The fact they spent heavily for Eric Decker means they weren’t looking for the kids to fix things immediately, but it’s still a loss for a team that needed all the help it could get.

I don’t know who he is, but he has the coolest name ever.

He was having a rough camp as it was. First he had a late start due to UCLAs calendar year, then a case of the drops. He will be way better prepared going to camp in 2015.

It’s not that bad a case for the Jets. Evans wouldn’t have contributed this year anyways he wasn’t ready. They wont lose a roster spot by putting him on IR and he can spend a year with his head in the books while the Jets can retain one more wideout from the group of many that are currently in their training camp. By the time they weed out who will go and who will stay next year, Evans will be more ready to contribute
